China’s Guigang Gears Up For 2025 EV Conference, Marks 10 Years Of Industry Growth

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 27 (Bernama) -- Guigang City is accelerating its momentum in the global electric vehicle (EV) race, as officials announced the Fifth (2025) New Energy Electric Vehicle Industry Development Conference will be held in Nanning on Aug 28.

According to a statement, the announcement was made during a press conference held by the Industry and Information Technology Bureau of Guigang City and the Publicity Department of Gangbei District, Guigang City, on Aug 20, commemorating the 10th anniversary of Guigang’s New Energy Electric Vehicle Industry Development.

Themed "Innovation-Driven Intelligent Manufacturing, Openness Connecting the Globe", the conference will gather domestic and foreign guests, experts, scholars, and leading enterprises in the industry.

Focusing on the new patterns and changes in the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) market, it will facilitate exchanges through various forms such as a thematic conference, a launch event for new national standard electric bicycle products, and a new energy EV production and sales matchmaking conference for ASEAN countries.

These efforts aim to further promote the mutual recognition of certifications for new national standard products in ASEAN markets, explore a new model of industrial cooperation featuring "Intelligent Manufacturing from China + Manufacturing from ASEAN", and inject new impetus into the high-quality development of the new energy EV industry.

In 2015, Gangbei District planned and constructed the China-ASEAN New Energy Electric Vehicle Production Base, and now the base has attracted over 100 EV enterprises, with over 50 put into operation. It has formed an annual production capacity of five million two-wheeled EVs, 500,000 three-wheeled EVs, and five million sets of parts and components, supported by an 80 per cent local supply rate.

Relying on a complete industrial chain, Gangbei District offers a full range of high-quality EV products, including over 100 models such as electric bicycles, light electric motorcycles, and high-speed electric motorcycles.

Actively building an open platform for external cooperation to promote the EV industry's entry into the international market, Gangbei District also strengthens cooperation with relevant national departments and associations to establish cooperative relations and create more opportunities for product exports.

Currently, EVs produced in Gangbei District have been exported to countries such as India, Thailand, the Netherlands, Nepal, Peru, Costa Rica, and Madagascar, gaining a foothold in the international market.

Looking forward, Gangbei District will continue to expand opening-up, enhance industrial competitiveness, enable more "Made in Guigang" EVs to reach global markets, and elevate the industry's international influence.

Ninth edition of flagship business summit set for 8–11 October at KLCC

SHAH ALAM, Aug 28 (Bernama) -- The Selangor State Government today officially launched the Selangor International Business Summit (SIBS) 2025, announcing a stronger focus on regional collaboration, economic resilience and inclusive growth. The four-day summit will take place from 8 to 11 October 2025 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC).

Entering its ninth year, SIBS has grown into one of the most prominent platforms for trade, investment, and innovation in the region, strengthening Selangor’s role as a key gateway to the South East Asian market.

Speaking at the launch, the Chief Minister of Selangor said that in the face of global uncertainty, regional unity has become more crucial than ever. “We are operating in an increasingly unpredictable global environment. This makes it even more important for ASEAN economies to stand together — united, forward-looking and resilient,” he said.

“Selangor is committed to playing a leading role in fostering deeper regional partnerships, both at the government and business levels.” The Chief Minister also emphasised Selangor’s readiness to act as a subnational driver of economic diplomacy, leveraging its strategic location, modern infrastructure and diversified economy to connect provinces, states and cities across ASEAN.

The new component highlights critical issues such as mental health, wellness and ageing — bringing human-centric development into sharper focus.

The Selangor Aerospace Summit also returns this year as an integrated part of the main programme, showcasing Selangor’s ambitions to strengthen its position as a national aerospace hub and facilitating cross-sector collaboration with industrial, logistics and digital economy players.

With 70% of planning already completed, the State Government has launched regional promotional efforts across South East Asia and intensified outreach across Malaysia to ensure broad participation. “We encourage business leaders, government agencies, and academia to take part in SIBS 2025 — whether as exhibitors, trade visitors, or conference delegates. It’s an opportunity not only to network but to help shape the future direction of the region’s economy,” the Chief Minister added.

Since its establishment in 2015, SIBS has generated billions in potential trade and investment value, and continues to draw a growing international audience. Beyond the numbers, the summit represents Selangor’s long-term commitment to building an inclusive, future-ready and sustainable economy.

The ceremony honored the Al-Sultan Restaurant chain, with Yemeni businessman Anas Al-Faqih receiving the award, along with the organizers. He noted the event attracted more than 150 pavilions and opened opportunities for students and researchers from Malaysian universities, emphasizing that WITEX is moving towards becoming an annual platform uniting economy, culture, and innovation under Islamic identity.

The World Islamic Tourism & Trade Expo (WITTE 2025) marked a milestone for Malaysia’s role in Islamic tourism, international trade, and cultural exchange. Datuk Zamree will be succeeded by Mohamed Nazri Omar, whose appointment as PCEO takes effect on 1 January 2026. He will join CGC in October 2025 to facilitate a smooth leadership transition.

With 36 years in the financial services industry, Datuk Zamree has been instrumental in reshaping CGC since 2015. He spearheaded two consecutive Five-Year Strategic Plans, anchoring the Corporation’s growth on three pillars — Guarantee, Financing and Beyond Guarantee. During his tenure, several initiatives were introduced to address market gaps and strengthen MSME development, including the launch of BizWanita (2015), BizMikro (2020) and the Beyond Guarantee initiatives such as the CGC Developmental Programme®, the creation of imSME in 2018 — now being developed as The Marketplace for MSMEs through CGC Digital — and most recently, the Guarantee Schemes for Malaysian Mid-Tier Companies (2025).

Datuk Zamree’s leadership and contribution to the financial ecosystem has earned recognition both nationally and internationally. He was recently honoured with the Distinguished Person Award 2024 in the ADFIAP Sustainable Awards for lifetime achievement in development banking.

Since its establishment in 1972, CGC has approved over RM100 billion in guarantees and financing. Between 2015 and 2024, CGC delivered a 10-year compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 11% across revenue, profit, and outstanding guarantees and financing. In May 2025, CGC achieved the historic RM100 billion milestone, benefitting more than 380,000 MSMEs throughout Malaysia.

Mohamed Nazri brings more than 25 years of experience in corporate and investment banking. He is currently the Managing Director of Group Corporate & Investment Banking at Bank Pembangunan Malaysia Berhad (BPMB), where he oversees Group Corporate Banking & Advisory, Group Treasury & Investment, Business Development & Strategy, and Product Development, while also serving as Director at several BPMB subsidiaries.

Prior to BPMB, he was Chief Executive Officer of Danajamin Nasional Berhad (2014– 2022) and Chairman of Prima Ekuiti (UK) Limited (2019–2020). At Danajamin, he spearheaded a review of the company’s developmental mandate and successfully expanded its role and product offerings to better support underserved but financially viable companies. He also raised Danajamin’s profile in the capital markets through regular participation in domestic and international forums, as well as roadshows with the Securities Commission.

Earlier in his career, Nazri built a strong foundation in corporate and investment banking as well as capital markets through various roles with leading financial institutions, including Kuwait Finance House Malaysia (2005–2011), RHB Sakura Merchant Bankers (2004–2005), Macquarie Bank (2001–2004) and Citibank (1997–
2001).

CGC Chairman, Dato’ Mohammed Hussein said, “On behalf of the Board, I extend our deepest gratitude to Datuk Zamree for his outstanding leadership over the past decade. He has built a strong foundation for CGC Group, enhancing its role as a key catalyst of MSME growth and resilience. At the same time, we are pleased to welcome Mohamed Nazri Omar as the new PCEO. We are confident that his wealth of experience in both the financial institutions and the development financial institutions will further strengthen CGC’s capacity to deliver innovative solutions and expand its impact in serving the MSMEs, a key component of the Malaysian economy”.

Internationally renowned AI tech minds, ethicists, and policy makers to participate in two-day event in Doha

DOHA, Qatar, Aug 26 (Bernama-BUSINESS WIRE) -- Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) will be hosting a landmark conference in Doha on AI Ethics: The Convergence of Technology and Diverse Moral Traditions from September 28–29, 2025.

This press release features multimedia. View the full release here: https://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20250825570906/en/

This milestone event is set to be an important convergence point for leading academics, policy makers, tech industry experts, ethicists, and others, to explore how AI is transforming societies and how globally diverse value systems should frame its responsible development and deployment. Socially-disruptive technologies are increasingly affecting our daily lives and, with technological innovation outpacing regulatory frameworks worldwide, meaningful international action is needed to ethically shape rules and guidelines to protect cultural and human norms.

The conference will highlight the need for cross-sector collaboration to ensure ethical AI development and standards across six thematic areas: healthcare; urban design; security; education; finance; and the future of the workplace.

Bitget Opens Access for AI Agent-Assisted Trading Boosting Wider Crypto Adoption

VICTORIA, Seychelles, Aug 20 (Bernama-GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Bitget, the leading cryptocurrency exchange and Web3 company, has announced its AI-powered trading assistant, GetAgent, is now available to all users. First introduced in July in an invite-only launch, GetAgent blends advanced AI with real-time market data to deliver insights, strategies, and execution tools in one seamless chat interface.

During the invite-only period, GetAgent received great feedback, amassing a waitlist of over 25,000 users. Early adopters provided valuable suggestions, including the need for more visual feedback to make market signals easier to interpret. These insights have helped sharpen the platform’s accuracy, personalization, and responsiveness ahead of today’s public launch.

With the public launch, GetAgent is introducing three membership tiers to meet the needs of different types of traders. The Free plan is open to everyone and offers analysis of the top 50 coins alongside futures strategies. The Plus plan, available with a free 30-day trial for early access users, includes up to ten daily questions, personalized strategy generation, and deeper market analysis. For high-frequency and professional traders, the Ultra plan offers priority access, up to fifty daily questions, and early access to upcoming features. These tiers are designed to scale with users’ trading ambitions, delivering smarter trades, sharper insights, and AI-powered automation for portfolios, trading signals, and market moves.

To celebrate the public release, Bitget is launching a limited-time GetAgent Experience-Sharing Campaign. All users can participate for a chance to win a free 30-day GetAgent Plus membership by sharing their experiences with the assistant.

With its public debut, GetAgent now lets traders generate strategies in plain language, cutting through complexity with a simple prompt. It bundles over 50 pro-grade tools—spanning market insights, on-chain data, and social sentiment—into one AI-powered hub. Smarter with every use, the assistant adapts to each trader’s style, serving up sharper strategies and timely risk alerts in real time.

“AI is changing the trading game, and GetAgent is our way of making that power accessible to everyone,” said Gracy Chen, CEO of Bitget. “Whether you’re just starting in crypto or a seasoned market veteran, GetAgent delivers insights that help you move faster, trade smarter, and act with greater confidence.”

Bitget will continue to upgrade GetAgent with expanded integrations, additional asset coverage, and more customization options, ensuring it evolves alongside the market and its users.

GetAgent is the latest addition to Bitget’s growing suite of AI-enabled tools, which also includes Bitget Seed, an AI-powered platform for discovering early-stage Web3 projects. Both align with Bitget’s mission to integrate emerging technologies like AI into its secure CeDeFi trading ecosystem, bridging on-chain innovation with user-friendly tools that empower everyday traders.
