Bank Muamalat Malaysia Berhad Hands Over Building, Van To Kelantan Islamic Education Centres

TANAH MERAH, May 8 (Bernama) -- Bank Muamalat Malaysia Berhad, via Wakaf Selangor Muamalat today handed over a building and a van to two Islamic education centres in Kelantan. Its chairman, Tan Sri Dr Mohd Munir Abdul Majid said the two-storey building valued at RM468,587 was handed over to Sekolah Rendah Ugama (SRU) Arab Darul Ulum Diniah, Tanah Merah while the RM109,500 Toyota Hiace van was given to Maahad Tahfiz Az-Zainab, Pasir Mas. "The contribution of the building was to replace a wooden building of the school which was damaged in the 2014 floods. We hope it will offer a conducive environment to students to study harder. "The van will facilitate the transportation of Maahad Tahfiz Az-Zainab students and we hope they will learn to be al-Quran literate, apart from achieving academic excellence," he told Bernama at a handing-over ceremony here Sunday. Also present were Kelantan Local Government, Housing, Youth and Sports Committee chairman Datuk Abdul Fattah Mahmood and Kelantan Islamic Foundation director Tengku Ab Rahman Tuan Yunus. Mohd Munir said Wakaf Selangor Muamalat was a collection and distribution programme launched in September 2012 to provide religious endowment facility to bank customers, as well as the public. As of last month, Wakaf Selangor Muamalat had channeled RM4,716,169 in various forms of assistance such as medical equipment and education, apart from distribution for investment, he added. He said Wakaf Selangor Muamalat's contribution was not just limited to Muslims as it also gave benefits to needy non-Muslims. Mohd Munir also officiated the opening of a new branch in Tanah Merah today, which was the fifth branch in Kelantan and the 61st in the country. Meanwhile, SMU (A) Darul Ulum Diniah principal Che Omar Ismail said the school was grateful for the assistance. "It is a big contribution to us as we have been facing a lack of space to accommodate 545 students and 25 teachers. The two-storey building will serve to provide additional classrooms as well as the school administration," he said. -- BERNAMA
