SEDA Organises Briefing On RE Initiatives In East Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR, May 10 (Bernama) -- Sustainable Energy Development Authority (SEDA) Malaysia is pleased to invite the public to attend a briefing session on renewable energy initiatives for Sabah and Wilayah Persekutuan Labuan region.

Minister of Energy, Green Technology and Water (KeTTHA) Datuk Seri Dr. Maximus Johnity Ongkili, had launched the Net Energy Metering (NEM) scheme on October 6, 2016.

SEDA in a statement said that this scheme will complement the current Feed-in Tariff (FiT) mechanism to encourage the deployment of Renewable Energy (RE) as meted out in Malaysia Eleventh Plan (RMK-11).

As the implementing agency for the scheme, SEDA Malaysia will conduct a briefing, open to industry players, potential investors and to public as well with an objective which is to provide highlights on the NEM scheme and Energy Audit Conditional Grant (EACG) for commercial buildings.

The NEM scheme briefing will be delivered by SEDAs Chief Operating Officer and the Energy Audit Conditional Grant (EACG) will be presented by SEDAs Head of Energy Demand Management Unit.

Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) will also be giving a briefing on green technology tax incentives.

The public is highly encouraged to grab the opportunity to participate in this briefing as they will gain knowledge on savings on their electricity bills through the NEM scheme. The public can also learn on financing facilities through EACG programme and obtain knowledge on green technology tax incentives like Green Investment Tax Allowances (GITA) for projects and assets & Green Income Tax Exemption (GITE).

This event will be held on Monday, May 15, 2017 at Le Meridien Hotel, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah and registration opens starting at 8am.

Registration is free of charge on first come first served basis only due to limited seats.
