ENTERPRISES IN MALAYSIA, SINGAPORE TAP THIRD-PARTY SERVICES FOR LATEST CONTACT CENTRE INNOVATIONS - REPORT

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 27 (Bernama) -- Malaysian and Singaporean enterprises are responding to changing work modes and consumer preferences by tapping into contact centre customer experience services from outside partners, said Information Services Group (ISG).

In its “2022 ISG Provider Lens Contact Center - Customer Experience Services” research report, ISG found that enterprises’ captive contact centres are seeking third parties to relieve the burden of keeping pace with new technologies.

“This has become increasingly important as consumers in the region become more inclined to use online services in many facets of life.

“The work of contact centre agents is increasingly supported by digital solutions, many of them based on artificial intelligence and analytics,” the report said.

ISG said digital solutions also help companies automate workflows to streamline the management of agents, a growing requirement as more agents switch to home-based or hybrid work modes.

“As flexible work becomes the norm in this region, service desk management and secure infrastructure to support remote workers are vital,” it said.

Enterprises are outsourcing these functions to service providers so they can focus their resources on the core business of customer experience, it added.

“The better a company supports its contact-centre workforce, the better they can serve customers and inspire brand loyalty,” said ISG Provider Lens Research partner and global leader Jan Erik Aase in a statement.

ISG also found that enterprises implementing internal advancements such as robotic process automation and recruitment process outsourcing before the pandemic are now shifting to customer-facing automation to differentiate themselves in the market.

The report also examined other customer experience trends affecting Singapore and Malaysia, including ongoing supply chain disruptions and the increasing importance of social media as a channel for attracting and interacting with customers.

ISG is a global technology research and advisory firm with over 800 clients, including more than 75 of the world’s top 100 enterprises.

George Clinical recruits over 5,000 patients in first-ever Global Kidney Patient Trials Network

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 26 (Bernama) -- George Clinical, in close collaboration with The George Institute for Global Health, recently recruited over 5,000 patients in its first-ever, groundbreaking Global Kidney Patient Trials Network (GKPTN) to accelerate kidney disease treatments.

George Clinical is a global clinical research organisation founded in the Asia-Pacific.

The concept for the GKPTN is a logical extension of its scientific and clinical operations leadership in the kidney space.

“Our ultimate goal is to grow the GKPTN to a total of 10,000 patients by the end of 2027 and this will give us the bandwidth to support dozens of clinical trials in the kidney space.

“We are well on our way to achieving our goals as we seek to provide the infrastructure necessary to make recruitment timelines shorter and reduce the time to get needed treatments to patients,” said its chief medical officer Maria Ali in a statement today.

The GKPTN aims to accelerate the development of new treatments and provide equitable benefits for the millions of people globally who suffer from chronic kidney disease (CKD) and the many rarer kidney diseases associated with glomerular nephropathies.

In early 2020, the GKPTN enrolled its first patient with the purpose of developing a network of patients with CKD willing to participate in clinical research projects accessible via a single global chronic kidney disease platform.

The GKPTN now has more than 140 sites in nine countries globally recruiting patients, including Australia, China, Japan, USA, Canada, Argentina, Brazil, Spain, and Italy with the full intention of continuing to expand the number of countries in the coming years.

The development of the GKPTN was made possible through a generous grant from AstraZeneca and serves as a clear example of a true research partnership.

MORE FOREST COVERAGE MEANS ADDITIONAL INCOME FOR FARMERS

SHANGHAI, Oct. 25, 2022 /Xinhua-AsiaNet/--

More than 30 percent of the total area of Chongming is covered by forest. The 36,000 hectares of forests on the island district account for nearly one-third of Shanghai's total.

That high forest coverage plays an important role in air purification, water conservation and climate regulation. Agricultural products grown in forests can also reduce the adverse effects of wind, drought, diseases and pests.

The forest ecosystem comprises many animals, plants and other organisms, which has a high economic value if reasonably developed, giving rise to "forest economics".

The Shanghai Conghui Agricultural Products Professional Cooperative plants matsutake mushrooms in the forest in Xincun Town. The mushrooms are grown with local rice straw as the substrate and organic fertilizer is applied. Yang Ji, head of the cooperative has calculated that the output of the fungi planted in the forest is almost the same as that planted in the field, but it can greatly reduce costs and save land resources.

Chongming is also exploring planting Chinese herbs such as dendrobium and some shade-loving flowers and plants in forests.

Agricultural products

While it is widely believed that high forest coverage can help improve the quality of local agricultural products, few may know that tall fruit trees such as orange and pear trees are also forest resources. Chongming fruit forests have both ecological and economic value.

Gu Chao, head of Chongming Luhua Agricultural Trade Co, said that the sales price of locally produced Cuiguan pears has surged more than 30 percent this year, and the brand-name pear was sold out as early as before the end of July.

Gu believes that the popularity of Chongming pear lies in its superior quality. In addition to the ecological planting and natural maturity that Chongming always insists upon the island's environment is also suitable for the growth of pear trees.

"Pear trees grow well and have fewer pests and diseases," Luo Jun, a research fellow with the Forestry and Fruit Institute of the Shanghai Academy of Agricultural Sciences, pointed out.

Luo added that Cuiguan pear was selected as the main variety of pear to be grown in Chongming because it was found through research that the soil pH, groundwater level and climate conditions in Chongming were particularly suitable for its growth.

The forest coverage in Chongming has increased together with the money in Chongming people's pockets. This is a kind of wisdom.

JUNIPER RESEARCH: 5G SERVICE REVENUE TO REACH $315 BILLION GLOBALLY IN 2023; REPRESENTING 35% OF OPERATORS' TOTAL REVENUE

BASINGSTOKE, England, Oct 25 (Bernama-BUSINESS WIRE) -- A new study from Juniper Research has found operator‑billed 5G service revenue will reach $315 billion in 2023; rising from $195 billion in 2022. This represents growth of over 60% in a single year. The research predicts this increase in revenue will be driven by the accelerating migration of cellular subscriptions to 5G networks; owing to operator strategies that minimise or remove any premium over existing 4G subscription offerings. It forecasts over 600 million new 5G subscriptions will be created next year, despite the anticipated economic downturn in 2023.
5G Service Revenue to Represent 80% of Global Operator Revenue by 2027

The report predicts growth of 5G networks will continue, and over 80% of global operator‑billed revenue will be attributable to 5G connections by 2027. The telecommunications industry demonstrated its robustness against the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, and the report projects the growth of 5G will also be resilient against this economic downturn; owing to the vital importance of mobile Internet connectivity today.

Research co-author Olivia Williams noted: “Despite the growth of the Internet of Things, revenue from consumer connections will continue to be the cornerstone of 5G operator revenue increase. Over 95% of global 5G connections in 2027 will be connected personal devices such as smartphones, tablets and mobile broadband routers.”

Private Networks Represent a Key Opportunity for Operators

In addition, the report predicts the ability of standalone 5G networks to offer ‘network slicing’ will act as the ideal platform for the growth of 5G private network revenue. Standalone 5G uses next‑generation core networks supporting network slicing technology, which can be used to take a ‘slice’ of public 5G infrastructure and provide it to private network users. In turn, this helps mitigate the cost of private 5G network hardware and increase its overall value proposition, all against a background of deteriorating macro-economic conditions.

CHONGMING FORMULATES STRINGENT STANDARDS TO ENSURE SAFETY, SUSTAINABLE USE OF FARMLAND

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 25 (Bernama) -- Chongming has formulated stringent access standards for the inputs in agriculture to ensure the safety and sustainable use of farmland by establishing a green food chain mechanism and eliminating the circulation of unqualified agricultural material from the source.

It has also carried out agricultural pollution control, increased the adjustment of agricultural industrial structure, accelerated the resource utilisation of agricultural production waste, and implemented soil remediation in an orderly manner.

Chongming's soil contains much less cadmium, mercury, arsenic, lead, chromium, copper, nickel and zinc which is in line with the standard of the Ministry of Agriculture, with over 70 per cent of Chongming's farmland using high-quality or above average soil.

With less alkaline and sandy soil and rich in nutrients, the soil on Chongming Island provides fertile ground for the growth of rhizome plants such as yams, sweet potatoes and taros, according to a statement.

Chongming crispy taro has been cultivated for over 400 years and has already become a national well-known product.

Besides crispy taro, white lentil, golden melon and rice are all Chongming's characteristic agricultural products.

In recent years, Chongming has accelerated the development of seed sources, thus promoting the commercialisation, scale and industrialisation of these agricultural products.

For the highest quality produce, from restaurants to kitchen tables, green, organic, and fresh are the standard.

The “green” concept guarantees a certain quality of agricultural product, while flavour adds to the market value. In this regard, Chongming produce has a clear advantage as high-quality soil leads to high-quality crops.

JUMIO HELPS BUSINESSES STAY AHEAD OF FAST-EVOLVING THREAT LANDSCAPE WITH DRAMATICALLY ENHANCED KYX PLATFORM

Integrated orchestration hub puts power in the hands of business users with the most robust portfolio of data sources, customizable rules engine and analytics to defend against fraud at the speed of business

LAS VEGAS, Oct 25 (Bernama-BUSINESS WIRE) -- Jumio, the leading provider of end-to-end identity proofing, risk assessment and eKYC/AML compliance solutions, today unveiled at Money20/20 USA its extended Jumio KYX Platform, with an integrated orchestration hub benefiting from the company’s acquisition of 4Stop. The platform streamlines fraud and eKYC/AML compliance management with the intuitive one-stop orchestration hub, which brings together global data, risk signals, real-time analytics, actionable insights and a configurable rules engine to help businesses defend against fraud without compromising user experience. With over one billion identity, risk and AML transactions completed for over 1,000 organizations in more than 200 countries and territories, Jumio is delivering on its promise to eradicate online identity fraud and accelerate digital trust for all.

Organizations today must detect and respond to increasingly sophisticated fraud attacks quickly and accurately to reduce business impact while also maintaining customer trust. According to recent global Jumio research, 80% of consumers prefer the assurances delivered by digital identity verification measures when choosing online brands.

Unfortunately, many organizations rely on a plethora of point solutions to evaluate the fraud risk across the user journey. This creates friction in the onboarding process and can lead to transaction abandonment. The ever-present threat of new fraud vectors and constant change of compliance mandates across the globe complicate the organization’s ability to keep up, forcing them to deploy considerable internal resources to manage fraud and compliance.

“Businesses’ ability to effectively manage fraud by stitching together myriad point solutions is no longer sustainable amidst increasingly robust attacks and IT resource constraints,” said David Mattei, strategic advisor at Aite-Novarica Group. “In addition to enabling organizations to fight fraud in real time as the threat landscape evolves, orchestration platforms provide greater agility to respond to fraud and are simple to use. In fact, our research shows that global fraud executives whose fraud solutions are integrated were two times more likely to report that managing fraud was ‘somewhat to very easy’ versus those whose fraud tools were not integrated.”

The Jumio KYX Platform helps businesses know and trust their users, players, patients — whoever the “X” is in their business — online. Its intuitive orchestration hub assists professionals tasked with protecting the organization and its customers from fraud, money laundering and other financial crimes during account onboarding, authentication and ongoing transaction processes.

The platform includes:
  • Identity Proofing with Expanded Risk Signals
    • Jumio’s market-leading ID Verification, Identity Verification and Document Verification capabilities significantly enhanced to detect sophisticated ID/document manipulation
    • An extensive portfolio of globally trusted data sources for added assurance when evaluating risk across the user journey
    • Name, address, phone, email and device risk signals to provide additional assurance and support compliance
  • Fully Integrated Orchestration Hub
    • An enterprise-grade dashboard that presents business-critical information in a custom visual format with options to deep dive into data, including:
      • Access to 500+ global data sources for identity proofing, risk assessment and eKYC/AML compliance
      • Real-time analytics and actionable insights to help business users respond to threats
      • Easy and customizable consolidated fraud and compliance views along with enhanced visualizations/reporting
  • Self-service Rules Engine
    • Customizable workflows allow business users to tailor their processes according to their unique use cases across industry verticals
    • The industry’s most extensive library of 800+ pre-configured rules help business users jump start their fraud defense and edit and apply rules in real-time – without waiting weeks or months for their technical teams to implement them
  • Industry-leading Data and Intelligence
    • Backed by the largest and most comprehensive network of global data
    • Leverages industry-leading Al algorithms to automate the verification processes, remove bias and detect fraud faster and with greater accuracy
“Our customers trust us to safely and quickly move their money around the globe,” said Tom Mazzaferro, Western Union chief data & innovation officer. “Whether they want to transfer money via the Western Union app, or at our retail locations, Jumio helps us to minimize fraud, maintain eKYC compliance standards from a single platform and improve overall customer experience. We look forward to continuing our partnership with Jumio as we launch new products and services to serve the needs of our customers even better, while improving their overall experience.”

“By putting business users at the center of the verification process and providing them with a holistic view of incoming threats as they occur, Jumio allows organizations to bypass the standard set-up of disparate point solutions that slow down the ability to fight fraud and serve customers,” said Bala Kumar, Jumio chief product officer. “With Jumio, businesses save time and money while effectively defending against fraud at the speed of business.”

“The new innovations and scope of Jumio’s extended KYX Platform is proof of our unwavering commitment to eliminating digital fraud,” said Robert Prigge, Jumio CEO. “Jumio continues to lead the industry with solutions powered by AI, biometrics and other innovations that help organizations outpace tech-driven fraud advancements, which are expanding in terms of volume, origin and sophistication.”

MILLIKEN & COMPANY COMMITS TO NET-ZERO FUTURE

SBTi verifies company’s net-zero science-based target by 2050

SPARTANBURG, S.C., Oct 20 (Bernama-BUSINESS WIRE) -- Diversified global manufacturer Milliken & Company announces its science-based net-zero targets have been approved by the U.N.-backed Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). SBTi is a collective of international organizations dedicated to helping companies set emission reduction targets consistent with climate science and the Paris Agreement.

This press release features multimedia. View the full release here: https://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20221019005053/en/

“At Milliken, sustainability is a core value,” shares Halsey Cook, president and CEO of Milliken & Company. “Climate change is placing pressure on communities, on companies and on our planet. The time to take meaningful action is now.”

SBTi calculates that companies committed to cutting emissions in line with climate science now represent $38 trillion — one-third — of the global economy. Milliken is one of the first 50 companies globally to achieve approved science-based net-zero targets and joins a group of more than 1,300 companies who have made net-zero commitments using the 2021 SBTi Corporate Net-Zero Standard. Milliken is the first company to be approved in South Carolina, where Milliken’s global headquarters is located.

“Not all net-zero is the same, which is why Milliken commits to reaching real net-zero greenhouse gas emissions across the value chain by 2050 from a 2018 base year,” says Kasel Knight, general counsel and head of sustainability at Milliken. “By working with SBTi, our net-zero commitment, along with our approved near-term and long-term targets, has been fully vetted by the best available science on a global scale.”

“We’re proud Milliken is leading this work,” concludes Cook. “Our targets empower our team of more than 8,000 to reduce risk, minimize impacts, work efficiently, control costs and identify new ways to deliver products.”

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 21 (Bernama) -- The Country Garden Forest City Golf Resort Classic Course has been ranked 49th in the 6th Asia's Top 100 Courses list, with only four golf courses in Malaysia having received the invaluable recognition.

AM BEST AFFIRMS CREDIT RATINGS OF DAH SING INSURANCE COMPANY

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 21 (Bernama) -- Global credit rating agency AM Best has affirmed the Financial Strength Rating of A- (Excellent) and the Long-Term Issuer Credit Rating of “a-” (Excellent) of Hong Kong’s Dah Sing Insurance Company (1976) Ltd (DSI).

The outlook of these credit ratings (ratings) is stable, according to a statement.

The ratings reflect DSI’s balance sheet strength, which AM Best assesses as very strong, as well as its adequate operating performance, limited business profile and appropriate enterprise risk management.

It also reflects the parental support from Dah Sing Financial Holdings Ltd (DSFH) in terms of capital, brand recognition, business development, product distribution, risk management and operations.

As measured by Best’s Capital Adequacy Ratio, DSI’s risk-adjusted capitalisation remains at the strongest level.

The company’s equity investment exposure is higher than its peers after a large capital injection from DSFH in 2017.

DSI reported a material decline of HKD234.5 million (US$30 million) in capital and surplus in the first half of 2022, mainly due to a plunge in the market value of DSI’s equity portfolio (US$1=RM4.73).

AM Best expects the company to implement robust investment selection and diversification strategies, as well as appropriate investment controls, to mitigate the high investment risk exposure.

As a small to a medium-sized player in Hong Kong’s non-life insurance segment, DSI maintained a market share of approximately one per cent, with a gross premium written of HKD604 million in 2021.
