INNIO chosen to deliver emergency backup power solution for Netherlands data centre

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 22 (Bernama) -- Austria-headquartered energy solution and service provider INNIO announced that its Jenbacher Ready for H2 engine technology has been selected by NorthC Datacenters (NorthC) to deliver an emergency backup power solution for the newest data centre in Eindhoven, Netherlands.

The Eindhoven data centre, including the hydrogen emergency backup power solution and the onsite hydrogen storage solution, is a greenfield project that is expected to be operational in the second half of 2023.

The six Jenbacher hydrogen engines will provide carbon-free emergency backup power in cases of electricity grid outages.

“We are excited and proud to build the first 100 per cent green hydrogen emergency backup power solution with engines for data centres globally together with NorthC,” INNIO president and chief executive officer Dr Olaf Berlien said in a statement.

Meanwhile, NorthC chief operating officer Jarno Bloem said with INNIO’s Jenbacher hydrogen emergency backup power solution coupled with the renewable power sources from the electricity grid, the company is able to decarbonise its complete energy supply infrastructure.

NorthC has implemented a strategy to be fully carbon neutral by 2030, which will be accomplished via four sustainability pillars, namely 100 per cent green energy; modular construction; making efficient use of residual heat; and green hydrogen.

The Jenbacher hydrogen engines replace traditionally used diesel generators as an emergency backup solution. The Jenbacher Type 4 hydrogen engines generate a total power output of six megawatts and will be delivered as a containerised package.

To provide additional flexibility and security to NorthC, the six Jenbacher Type 4 engines are configured as dual-gas engines. In case of an electricity grid outage, the engines are operated with the on-site stored hydrogen.

“For longer duration grid outages, NorthC has the option to switch to natural gas as an energy source during operation of the engines, in case of shortage in the H2 supply infrastructure,” INNIO said.

AM Best affirms credit ratings of Vietnam’s Bao Minh Insurance

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 22 (Bernama) -- AM Best has affirmed Vietnam-based Bao Minh Insurance Corporation’s (BMI) financial strength rating of “B++” (Good) and the long-term issuer credit rating of “bbb” (Good).

The credit rating agency said the ratings, which have a stable outlook, reflect BMI’s balance sheet strength as well as its adequate operating performance, neutral business profile and appropriate enterprise risk management.

“The ratings also factor in a neutral impact from the company’s majority ownership by the State Capital Investment Corporation, which is the sovereign wealth fund of Vietnam,” AM Best said in a statement.

It said BMI’s balance sheet strength is underpinned by its risk-adjusted capitalisation, which was at the strongest level at year-end 2021 and is expected to remain at this level over the near to medium term, as measured by Best’s Capital Adequacy Ratio.

Capital adequacy remains sufficient to support planned business growth despite limited capital generation over recent years.

In addition, AM Best viewed BMI’s investment portfolio to be of moderate risk with the majority of it allocated toward term deposits and the remainder held in non-rated corporate bonds, equity investments including a joint venture, and real estate.

According to the rating agency, BMI maintains a basic approach to asset liability management despite some exposure to longer-duration products within its business mix.

AM Best stated that BMI has moderate reinsurance dependence to support its underwriting of large limit risks and help manage catastrophe exposure accumulation.

Its business profile was assessed by AM Best as neutral and the company is ranked as the fourth-largest non-life insurer in Vietnam based on 2021 direct premiums.

The company’s underwriting portfolio is diversified by line of business, although the company has a single-market concentration in Vietnam.

TESSA THERAPEUTICS ANNOUNCES NEW CLINICAL DATA FROM PHASE 1 ALLOGENEIC STUDY PRESENTED AT 2022 ANNUAL MEETING OF AMERICAN SOCIETY OF HEMATOLOGY (ASH)

Oral podium presentation highlights data demonstrating a 79% overall response rate and complete responses in 43% of relapsed or refractory CD30-positive lymphomas treated with Tessa’s “off the shelf” CD30.CAR EBVST cell therapy (TT1X)

Therapy well tolerated with no dose-limiting toxicities or evidence of graft-versus-host-disease (GVHD) observed

SINGAPORE, Dec 12 (Bernama-GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Tessa Therapeutics Ltd. (Tessa), a clinical-stage cell therapy company developing next-generation cancer treatments for hematological malignancies and solid tumors, today announced enhanced clinical data from an ongoing Phase 1 study (NCT04288726) of TT11X, an allogeneic “off the shelf” CD30.CAR-modified Epstein-Barr virus-specific T-cell (EBVST) therapy being co-developed by Baylor College of Medicine and Tessa. The results, detailed in an oral podium presentation at the 64th Annual Meeting of the American Society of Hematology (ASH) on December 10, demonstrated TT11X to be well-tolerated at all dosing levels, eliciting a 79% overall response rate and complete disappearance of tumor in six patients.

The podium presentation, entitled, “Evaluating Safety and Clinical Efficacy of Off-the-Shelf CD30.CAR-Modified Epstein-Barr Virus-Specific T cells in Patients with CD30+ Lymphoma,” reported data from 14 heavily pre-treated patients with advanced CD30-positive Hodgkin lymphoma who were administered TT11X across three dosing levels  (4 × 10⁷ CD30.CAR EBVSTs, 1 × 10⁸ CD30.CAR EBVSTs, and 4 × 10⁸ CD30.CAR EBVSTs). An overall response rate of 79% (11/14 patients) was observed across all three dose levels, including six complete responses and six partial responses. The strongest responses were achieved in patients treated at the higher dose levels with additional infusions resulting in increasing effectiveness.

TT11X was demonstrated to be well tolerated with no dose limiting toxicities observed, including no evidence of graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) and only two patients having reversible grade 4 cytopenia.

“The data reported at ASH suggest that allogeneic CD30.CAR EBVSTs provide a potentially safe and efficacious treatment for CD30-positive lymphomas and affirm previously reported data indicating the technology may avert GVHD and immediate rejection even after multiple infusions,” stated David H. Quach, Ph.D., Instructor at Center for Cell and Gene Therapy, Baylor College of Medicine, USA. “Importantly, CD30.CAR EBVSTs elicited a clinical response in 11 of 14 patients with advanced CD30-positive Hodgkin lymphoma including six complete responses. Based on these results, CD30.CAR EBVSTs appear to be a promising platform for off-the-shelf cancer immunotherapy.”

MCKL STUDENTS LAUDED AS OUTSTANDING CAMBRIDGE LEARNERS AWARDS

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 13 (Bernama) -- Five students from the Cambridge A Level programme at Methodist College Kuala Lumpur (MCKL) were recognised as outstanding performing learners in Malaysia, and globally, in the June 2022 examination series. In announcing the results, the students were honoured at the Outstanding Cambridge Learner Awards ceremony, hosted by the Cambridge Assessment International Education (CAIE) in Subang Jaya recently.

Alexander Tan, Anitej Palur, Lee Cheng Zhen, and Pearlynn Khoo achieved Top in the World award for Mathematics and their classmate Tan Zhen Mei scored High Achievement in the German Language syllabus. “I am deeply humbled by the honour,” said aspiring doctor, Anitej. “I will take this as a sign to continue working harder to achieve my goals. While preparing for my AS paper, I have learned to become more independent in my studies and now have a clearer path ahead for my future.”

Anitej’s course mate, Alexander shared the same sentiment, “Securing a top spot in the Outstanding Cambridge Learner Awards helped reassure me that I could reach new heights. Receiving support from my lecturer gave me the push to excel, as well as giving solid advice whenever I was stuck. What’s more, my parents showing support throughout by making my life outside of academics easier allowed me to perform as such.”

Of course, such an accolade did not come without its challenges. As with most students, Pearlynn experienced some anxiety when preparing for her exams, “The programme is also fast paced, which taught me to have better time management, and the help I received from the lecturers, who were always ready to help and listen to our challenges in their studies, encouraged me to keep working hard, and it paid off.”
