Wemade introduces evolved tokenomics using MIR M

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 30 (Bernama) -- Wemade Co Ltd, a South Korean online game developer will be launching its new mobile massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) MIR M: Vanguard and Vagabond (MIR M) in 170 countries on Jan 31.

According to Wemade in a statement, MIR M will present ‘inter-game economy’ with MIR4, one of the most successful blockchain games in the world, and to create a more intimate game economy, Wemade connected the tokenomics of the two games.

“Players can enjoy a unique experience in the virtuous cycles by reinvesting the tokens that they have obtained from a game into another game.

“The game token DRONE and the governance token DOGMA will be used as the main tokens in MIR M where players can exchange Darksteel using Play Wallet for game token DRONE, which can be exchanged for WEMIX$ or other tokens used in other games like MIR4,” it said.

The governance token DOGMA grants more rights to players and connects the economy of the two games. DOGMA can be obtained by staking DRONE, a game token used in MIR M, and HYDRA, a game token used in MIR4.

In addition, players can express their opinions more actively and participate in major decision-making such as summoning Field Bosses and World Bosses or holding a Valley Capture by using DOGMA they have earned.

FourKites Data Connector to help businesses maximise supply chain data

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 27 (Bernama) -- Leading supply chain visibility company FourKites has launched Data Connector, an offering that allows customers to automatically access and leverage FourKites data directly within their existing business intelligence tool.

“By making supply chain data more accessible than ever before, Data Connector will help leaders across organisations access valuable insights to mitigate disruptions and expedite decision-making,” according to FourKites in a statement.

Unlike other data integration methods that unlock only a fraction of a company’s supply chain data and require time-consuming processes to integrate, Data Connector allows analysts to incorporate hundreds of data points from FourKites directly into their custom analytics platform of choice.

“Business leaders are realising that trusted, high-quality supply chain data goes far beyond trucks and trains; it is relevant to all corners of the enterprise. The more accessible that data is across their organisation, the more they can optimise their operations.

“We are committed to ensuring that our customers can maximise their entire ecosystem of technology providers — of which FourKites is a major element — to inform and expedite their decision making,” said its chief product officer, Priya Rajagopalan.

Designed for data analysts who want the ultimate flexibility for custom analytics, Data Connector allows customers to start building custom dashboards in minutes — no implementation or significant developer resources required.

It also eliminates the need for manual data uploads or complex workflows to integrate FourKites data into customers’ business intelligence stacks.

FourKites customers, including 3M, are using Data Connector to identify the supply chain data most relevant for their needs, and leverage that information to derive broader business insights and accelerate time to value.

Hyatt poised for continued transformative growth in 2023, and beyond

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 25 (Bernama) -- Hyatt Hotels Corporation has shared that Hyatt is positioned for continued transformative growth in 2023 and beyond, with a record pipeline of approximately 117,000 rooms worldwide as of year-end 2022.

Notably, nearly one in four pipeline properties is classified as a lifestyle hotel, representing 10 per cent of the existing base of hotels, further strengthening Hyatt’s leadership position in the luxury, lifestyle and leisure segments. The significant growth of these high-value properties in Hyatt’s portfolio expands the compelling guest experiences that can further drive World of Hyatt loyalty penetration across the Hyatt portfolio.

A notable driver of this growth is the announced asset-light acquisition of Dream Hotel Group’s lifestyle hotel brand and management platform which is expected to bring established lifestyle hotel brands – including Dream Hotels, Unscripted Hotels and The Chatwal – into the Hyatt portfolio.

Dream Hotel Group properties are known for their experiential hospitality including hotspot restaurants and nightlife venues built on strategic and unconventional programming and brand collaborations, paired with signature designs that balance substance with sizzle.

The acquisition will welcome more than 600 new colleagues into the Hyatt family, bringing deep expertise in experiential hospitality to Hyatt’s global portfolio of lifestyle offerings and extending Hyatt’s brand footprint in strategic destinations including Nashville, Hollywood, Las Vegas, South Beach, Saint Lucia, Doha and New York City. It will also mark the entrance of Hyatt brands into markets such as the Catskills in New York and Valle de Guadalupe in Mexico.

Additionally, the Caption by Hyatt brand – which combines the design and comfort of an upscale, lifestyle-forward hotel with the flexibility of a select-service property – is poised for significant growth following the successful opening of Caption by Hyatt Beale Street Memphis in 2022.

The Caption by Hyatt brand is expanding internationally with previously announced properties expected to open in China and Japan in 2023, Vietnam in 2025 and Sydney in the coming years. Grounded in caring for people and place and creating connections between them, the Caption by Hyatt brand is committed to hiring diverse talent, vendors, artisans, and suppliers – and celebrating the diversity of people in the communities in which Caption by Hyatt hotels are located.

“Through our intentional long-term growth strategy and by working closely with owners, Hyatt boasts five years of industry-leading organic net rooms growth,” said Jim Chu, executive vice president, chief growth officer, Hyatt in a statement.

“Owners want to work with us because of our expertise, performance track record and optimal positioning in the industry. We have global scale, but we are nimble enough to create personal relationships, draw on our own experiences and lead with empathy.”

WISTAR INSTITUTE HIV RESEARCHERS WIN GRANT TO EXPLORE GENETICALLY ENGINEERED NATURAL KILLER CELLS AS HIV THERAPY

PHILADELPHIA, PA, Jan 20 (Bernama-GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- amfAR, The Foundation for AIDS Research, has awarded Luis J. Montaner, D.V.M., D.Phil., in collaboration with Mohamed Abdel-Mohsen, Ph.D., a Target Grant for $397,663 over two years. Montaner, who leads The Wistar Institute’s HIV Research Program, is studying the ability of a type of immune cell known as natural killer (NK) cells to kill HIV-infected cells.

“This grant to Dr. Montaner is the latest of several awards we have made to outstanding scientists at The Wistar Institute,” said Dr. Rowena Johnston, amfAR’s Vice President and Director of Research. “Dr. Montaner’s well-designed research project has significant potential for moving the HIV cure research field forward. We wish him and his team much success and look forward to receiving updates on their progress.”

Immunotherapy using gene-modified NK cells has been shown to be effective in treating some forms of cancer. Montaner and his team are studying whether the same effectiveness can be found in treating HIV. Montaner’s research relies on optimizing NK cells to effectively find and kill HIV-infected cells by modifying them outside the body to better bind to antibodies once infused as cell therapy.

The approach will also include use of a strategy by the Abdel-Mohsen laboratory to alter antibodies to have greater potency in increasing NK cell killing. These strategies will be combined and tested in mouse models with functional human immune cells able to support HIV infection. They will determine efficacy and whether, upon halting antiretroviral therapy, HIV can continue to be controlled.

“The Montaner lab tests immunotherapy approaches that harness several arms of the immune response to win over HIV, including immunotherapy using NK cells,” said Montaner, vice president of Scientific Operations and principal investigator of the BEAT-HIV Delaney Collaboratory to Cure HIV. “This new amfAR grant will allow us to initiate new work that will expand our ongoing studies so we can continue to achieve significant milestones in our research to test HIV cure strategies.”

Wistar is a member of the Delaney Collaboratory to Cure HIV-1 Infection by Combination Immunotherapy (BEAT-HIV Collaboratory), a consortium of more than 100 top HIV researchers working to test combinations of several innovative immunotherapies under new preclinical research and clinical trials, and one of the largest HIV-cure collaborations in the world. The Montaner lab and other groups in the BEAT-HIV Collaboratory were awarded a five-year award from the NIH last year.

Xiamen University Malaysia & CompAsia Team Up On ‘The Best doesn’t have to be New’ Campaign

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 19 (Bernama) -- Companies pay upwards of RM 150,000 for a 1-minute commercial. This could cover creative costs that include – concept, script, team; production; talent; along with the costs of location and staging; editing; rendering; audio; narrator; equipment; and those are just some
of the basics before the cost for buying airtime.

So, can a quality video be produced on a budget of under RM 3,000?

A group of 10 students from Xiamen University Malaysia did just that with a 3-minute video called ‘Silent Love’ that tells the poignant story of how Asian parents often express love through actions and not words, while exploring our obsession with attaining new possessions.

The project started out as a collaboration between CompAsia and Xiamen University’s advertising students to create a campaign that invites consumers to consider preloved devices over new ones. What resulted from the project is a visually spectacular and heartwarming film that entirely shifted CompAsia's marketing plans for the upcoming Chinese New Year.

GENESIS STRATEGIC ACTIONS TO MAXIMISE VALUE FOR CLIENTS, FORTIFY FUTURE BUSINESS

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 20 (Bernama) -- Genesis Global Holdco, LLC (‘Genesis’ ‘GGH’ or the ‘company’, an industry pioneer and digital currency prime brokerage, has announced strategic actions to achieve a global resolution to maximize value for all clients and stakeholders and strengthen its future business.

As previously announced, Genesis and its advisers have been engaged in ongoing, productive discussions with advisers to its creditors and corporate parent Digital Currency Group (’DCG’) to evaluate the most effective path to preserve assets and move the business forward.

Genesis has now commenced a court-supervised restructuring process to further advance these discussions and reach a holistic solution for its lending business, which, if achieved, would provide an optimal outcome for Genesis clients and Gemini Earn users.

Genesis Global Holdco, LLC and two of its lending business subsidiaries, Genesis Global Capital, LLC (‘GGC’) and Genesis Asia Pacific Pte Ltd (‘GAP’), filed voluntary petitions under Chapter 11 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York (the ‘court’). Genesis’s other subsidiaries involved in the derivatives and spot trading and custody businesses and Genesis Global Trading are not included in the filing and continue client trading operations.

As part of its Chapter 11 filing, Genesis has proposed a roadmap to an exit including a Chapter 11 plan (the ‘plan’) that calls for a framework for a global resolution of all claims through, and the creation of, a trust that will distribute assets to creditors.

The company will initiate a marketing and sale process to monetise GGH’s assets or otherwise raise capital, using the transaction proceeds to pay creditors fairly and equitably. If the marketing process does not result in a sale or capital raise, creditors will receive ownership interests in Reorganized GGH.

All aspects of the restructuring process will be overseen by an independent special committee of the company’s board of directors.

“While we have made significant progress refining our business plans to remedy liquidity issues caused by the recent extraordinary challenges in our industry, including the default of Three Arrows Capital and the bankruptcy of FTX, an in-court restructuring presents the most effective avenue through which to preserve assets and create the best possible outcome for all Genesis stakeholders,” said Derar Islim, Interim CEO, Genesis in a statement.

Genesis has more than US$150 million in cash on hand which will provide ample liquidity to support its ongoing business operations and facilitate the restructuring process. (US$1 = RM4.297)

TRACKING ROGUE VESSELS BOLSTERS FISHERIES MANAGEMENT - GLOBAL FISHING WATCH

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 19 (Bernama) -- A new study titled “Tracking Elusive and Shifting Identities of the Global Fishing Fleet” by Global Fishing Watch revealed that almost 20 per cent of high seas fishing is carried out by vessels that are either internationally unregulated or not publicly authorised, with large concentrations of these ships operating in the Southwest Atlantic Ocean and the western Indian Ocean.

The study, which was published in Science Advances, combines a decade’s worth of satellite vessel tracking data with identification information from more than 40 public registries to determine where and when vessels responsible for most of the world’s industrial fishing change their country of registration, a practice known as “reflagging” and identify hotspots of potential unauthorised fishing and foreign-owned vessels activity.

Global Fishing Watch researchers along with the Marine Geospatial Ecology Lab from Duke University and Stockholm Resilience Centre were able to track and analyse 35,000 commercial fishing and support vessels to reveal their changing identities and enable the reconstruction of vessel histories to demonstrate reflagging patterns, using big data processing and a compilation of global datasets.

“When a vessel’s identity is changed, it makes tracking them all the more difficult, allowing bad actors the opportunity to take advantage of information gaps and avoid oversight. We need to close that loophole,” said Global Fishing Watch senior data scientist and lead author of the study, Jaeyoon Park in a statement.

According to the study, fleets with prevalent reflagging are over five times more likely to be composed of vessels under foreign ownership which are often registered to “flags of convenience,” defined by the International Transport Workers' Federation as countries that offer foreign shipowners the ability to register or fly the flag of their own State.

While reflagging and foreign ownership are lawful, when not properly regulated and monitored, they can indicate a risk of illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing. IUU fishing accounts for as much as 20 per cent of the global seafood catch with annual losses valued at up to US$23.5 billion. (US$1 = RM4.32)

The study also identified concentrations of fishing activity by foreign-owned vessels, which are focused in parts of the high seas and certain national waters, in which the hotspots correspond to the areas where multiple non-governmental organisations have called for better governance systems.

“By synthesising over 100 billion Global Positioning System (GPS) positions with consolidated identity information from 200,000 vessels, we were able to reveal patterns about vessel activity from the past decade,” added Park.

Global Fishing Watch is an international nonprofit organisation dedicated to advancing ocean governance through increased transparency of human activity at sea.

CORRE ENERGY EXPANDS PROJECT OPERATIONS TO NORTH AMERICA

NEW YORK, Jan 18 (Bernama-GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Incentives for Energy Storage Projects in the US and Canada Offer a Unique Opportunity to Accelerate Decarbonization of North American Power Generation.

Corre Energy B.V. has expanded its energy storage project development operations into the United States and Canada. Corre Energy US Development Company LLC, a subsidiary of Corre Energy B.V., has been formally launched to source and develop utility-scale compressed air energy storage (CAES) projects across North America.

CAES is a commercially proven technology that can use renewable energy to compress air into underground salt caverns when power demand and prices are low. This energy is later released to the grid to increase supply when demand and prices are higher, enhancing the stability, reliability, and security of the network. When combustion of green hydrogen is included as part of the CAES plant’s technical design, the electricity it supplies has a zero-carbon footprint.

The US Department of Energy ranks CAES1 as the lowest cost long duration energy storage technology. The relatively inexpensive nature of the physical hedge provided to Corre Energy’s customers allows them to ‘time shift’ the variable energy they produce and enhance the profitability of their renewable assets. In this way, CAES facilities can support the more rapid deployment of renewable generation assets across North America, accelerating the decarbonization of the generation fleet.

In return for allowing renewable generators to store energy in its CAES plants and discharge that energy when its value is highest, Corre Energy will typically charge a set fee and share in the upside revenue earned by its customers, under what is termed an “offtake agreement.”

Keith McGrane, Chief Executive Officer of Corre Energy, commented: “Last month we signed binding commercial terms for a 15-year offtake agreement with Eneco, a leading renewable energy supplier in the Netherlands, for the entire multi-day storage capacity of ZW1, our 320-megawatt project. That agreement confirms the attractiveness of our business model and will support development of a project portfolio in North America.” McGrane added: “As the market leader for long duration energy storage projects in Europe, we look forward to transferring our knowhow into the US and Canada. Our North American operations will also provide opportunities for investors mainly focused on the North American market to participate in financing the debt and equity requirements of our North American subsidiary and its CAES projects.”

Chet Lyons, a pioneer in the energy storage industry, has been named president of Corre Energy US Development Company LLC. Lyons played an instrumental role in developing and commercializing merchant-based energy storage projects to perform frequency regulation ancillary services in the United States, Canada, and globally.

Lyons commented: “The success of Corre Energy B.V. in Europe and new once-in-a-generation government incentives for long duration energy storage projects in both the US and Canada make this the perfect time to build our North American project portfolio.” Lyons added: “Investment Tax Credits of 30 to 40 percent of total project costs and Production Tax Credits for the use of hydrogen will have a beneficial impact on project economics and can make our projects carbon free, enabling us to play a key role in the decarbonization of North American power generation.”

With Type-C charging, IP67 ruggedness, crystal clear audio, and excellent communication range, the Hytera HP5 series portable radios provide a professional, easy-to-use, and cost-effective instant group communications solution for enterprise and business users.

SHENZHEN, China, Jan 17 (Bernama-BUSINESS WIRE) -- Hytera Communications (SZSE: 002583), a leading global provider of professional communications technologies and solutions, today released HP56X and HP50X portable two-way radios to further expand and strengthen its new generation of Digital Mobile Radio (DMR) portfolio. The HP5 models are developed to provide reliable voice communications for security, operations, technician, and maintenance teams at office buildings, stadiums, industrial parks, school campuses, hospitals, etc.

This press release features multimedia. View the full release here: https://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20230116005242/en/

H-Series, including portable radios, mobile radios, and repeaters, is designed and developed on new hardware and software platforms. Hytera began the introduction of its next-generation H-Series DMR radios with HP7 portable two-way radios, HM7 mobile radios, and HR106X repeaters to the global markets at the end of 2021; then HP6, HM6, and HR6 models followed. With obvious competitive edges in the marketplace, H-Series models have been swiftly adopted by customers across countries. Now the latest HP5 models further enhance Hytera’s ability to serve more customers from different sectors.

HP5 series, designed for enterprises and businesses with smaller teams, excels in balancing functionalities, usability, and price point. The HP5 models have dedicated dual knobs for volume and channel controls to simplify radio operation. With the universal Type-C port, HP5 radios can be charged with a power bank or car charger the way regular smartphones are charged.

HP56X and HP50X radios deliver crystal-clear audio enabled by AI-based noise cancellation, which suppresses annoying feedback howling and filters unwanted ambient noises. With the 0.18μV (‒122dBm) sensitivity, the HP5 Series ensures stable push-to-talk voice calls even at the far edge of coverage.

“Enterprise and business users may need fewer functions from their two-way radio systems than public safety users do. For example, the trunking call is usually a standard feature required by the police, not necessarily a must for business users,” said Howe Tian, General Manager of the Device Product Line at Hytera. “However, their requirements for versatility, ergonomics, and reliability are similar. With this in mind, we designed HP5 portable radios. We believe HP5 will be a great productivity and safety tool for a lot of professional scenarios.”

HP5 series is IP67-graded water-proof and dust-proof and meets stringent MIL-STD-810G military requirements for protection against vibration, 1.5-meter drops, extreme temperature, etc. The GPS and BT 5.2 modules make these two new radios a versatile part of the overall dispatching and management solution.

The date of new product availability may vary across countries. For more information about the Hytera HP5 series professional DMR portable two-way Radio, please visit:

Designed with intensive attention to ergonomics, the compact and lightweight GC550 captures every incident in a 150° super-wide field of view and is equipped with the most powerful processor in the market which can deliver ultra-clear 2K videos at 30 frames per second (fps).

The starlight night vision technology makes it possible to shoot sharp and colourful footage under extremely low light conditions especially at night.

“Body cameras are vital tools for a lot of mission and business critical scenarios. Sharper, clearer, and smoother footage improve the authenticity of the record for the purpose of reviewing work and collecting evidence.

“GC550 is designed to capture fine details as evidence for legal investigations and court proceedings while still excels in terms of ease of wearing and carrying,” said Hytera vice president, Ke Wang in a statement.

The model comes with a built-in backup battery that gives users an additional five minutes to swap the main battery in the field which allows uninterrupted recording.

It will automatically save the ongoing recordings and keep what is already recorded safe and sound if the body camera detects a drop or sudden impact while recording.

As light as 115 gram, the GC550 can be worn on the epaulet or the front pocket with a 360° rotatable clip whereby users can easily rotate the bodycam and find the best recording angle without having to remove it.
