YAYASAN PETRONAS DONATES AID PACKAGES TO FAMILIES AFFECTED BY FLOODS

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 23 (Bernama) -- Yayasan PETRONAS has donated 5,000 aid packages to families affected by the monsoonal floods in collaboration with the Department of Social Welfare throughout the country through its Sentuhan Kasih Disaster Relief Programme.

The aid packages, which consist of daily necessities such as mineral water, towels, blankets, toiletries and food were channeled to temporary relief centres (PPS) established across the nation covering 19 districts in 10 states namely Johor, Kedah, Kelantan, Melaka, Negeri Sembilan, Perak, Pahang, Selangor, Sabah and Terengganu.

“We hope the distribution of these aid packages will ease the burden of families affected by the ongoing floods. There are over 17,300 families that have been transferred to temporary relief centres and the numbers are expected to increase due to the continuous rainfall. The basic needs distributed in the aid packages are meant to come in handy and bring comfort to the families while they are placed in the temporary relief centres,” said Shariah Nelly Francis, Chief Executive Officer, Yayasan PETRONAS.

“Working closely with the Welfare Department (JKM) has also greatly helped us in facilitating the process of delivery and distribution of aid packages to flood victims in selected districts,” she added.

Yayasan PETRONAS’ Sentuhan Kasih Disaster Relief Programme is aligned with the PETRONAS Sustainability Agenda and the United Nations Sustainability Development Goals.
