TIANJIN BINHAI NEW AREA BUILDS NEW GATEWAY TO THE SEA IN NORTH CHINA

TIANJIN, China, Sept. 23, 2019 /Xinhua-AsiaNet/--

The Xiongan Service Center of the Tianjin Port Group was inaugurated on August 21, with the opening of the Tianjin Port's green channel for the Xiongan New Area. Twenty container convoys full of rubber products drove from the core area of the Xiongan New Area to Tianjin Port that day, opening a new chapter for the coordinated development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.
 
Since the establishment of the the Xiongan New Area, Tianjin Port has made full use of its global advantages to serve the Xiongan New Area's planning and construction by focusing on building a service platform and the Xiongan New Area's gateway to the sea.
 
Now, a front-end service platform is in place, including the Xiongan Service Center of the Tianjin Port Group and three logistics service nodes in Baoding, Shengfang and Baigou. Meanwhile, special passages and windows have been set up at the port container terminals and the Tianjin International Trade and Shipping Service Center to provide green passage for the Xiongan New Area's import and export goods.
 
The Tianjin Port Group's affiliates have also signed a agreement to co-develop the green channel with three Hebei firms. All parties will build on the construction of the smart Tianjin Port to deepen the cooperation of anhydrous ports, form a modern logistics channel with the Hebei regional headquarters of Tianjin Port's inland marketing network as the core, realize efficient, accurate and convenient inter-connectivity, and offer strong support for the Xiongan New Area's infrastructure construction, people's livelihood needs and key projects.

"TRANSPARENCY FOR BETTER REGULATION" TO BE HIGHLIGHTED AT GRP WEEK, 7TH - 11TH OCTOBER 2019 IN PUTRAJAYA

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 20 (Bernama) -- Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC) will organize a Good Regulatory Practice (GRP) Week from 7th until 11th October 2019 as part of the government initiatives in enhancing the governance effectiveness of the public sector in Malaysia through GRP.

This GRP Week aims to identify the measures and share the best practices in improving the regulatory performance as well as discussing the issues and challenges faced by the public and private sectors towards improving the productivity and enhancing the competitiveness of the nation. It is expected more than 1,000 participants from the local and international organisations will be joining this event.

Among the activities to be undertaken in conjunction with the GRP Week are panel discussions on the current and potential initiatives by the local and international renowned speakers with the theme “Transparency for Better Regulation”. The highlights of the event is the National Convention on GRP 2019 which will be officiated by YAB Deputy Prime Minister, Dato’ Seri Dr. Wan Azizah Wan Ismail on 10th October 2019.

The National Policy on Good Regulatory Practice (NPGRP) will be launched at the same event to ensure the new and existing regulations comply with the principles of GRP. Unified Public Consultation (UPC) will also be introduced as an important medium and tool for engagement between the public, regulators, and regulation.

“This 4-day event aims to inculcate the importance of transparency among policy makers, particularly in producing quality policies and regulations, to ensure a better understanding of the positive impact of quality regulation on the economy. This will result in higher productivity for Malaysia, as well as to showcase and share best practices from individual organisations on GRP. The sharing of views, insights and experiences on regulatory reform initiatives by the experts will provide the participants with the necessary pointers to help strengthen our knowledge of integrity, inclusiveness, trust and transparency as emphasized by the Government,” said Director-General of Malaysia Productivity Corporation, YBhg. Dato’ Abdul Latif Haji Abu Seman.

BEIJING, Sept 20 (Bernama-BUSINESS WIRE) -- The 16th China-ASEAN Expo will be held in Nanning, Guangxi, China from Sept 20 to 23, 2019. According to Wang Lei, the Secretary General of the China-ASEAN Expo Secretariat, a financial service exhibition will be arranged in Nanning International Exhibition Center for the financial institutions to display cross-border financing, cross-border settlement, fintech, ITFIN. Some financial institutions have confirmed their participation, such as Bank of China, Agricultural Bank of China, China Construction Bank, ICBC, HSBC (China) and Singapore's DBS Bank, etc.
 
Banks from ten ASEAN member countries have established 36 branches in China. Banks from Singapore and Thailand have the most branches. Three Thai banks have set up 9 branches in China, out of which Bangkok Bank has established four branches in Beijing and Shanghai. These banks are engaged in businesses such as wholesale banking and retail banking, and continue to diversify. Meanwhile, branches of Chinese financial institutions are also increasing in ASEAN.
 
In addition, China and ASEAN are also promoting the establishment of a bank's bilateral settlement network to facilitate cross-border RMB trade settlement. China has introduced direct transactions in the inter-bank foreign exchange market, including RMB against Singapore dollar, Malaysian ringgit and Thai baht, innovating the listing of RMB against Cambodian Riel. China also has reached agreements with Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and other countries on the establishment of RMB Qualified Foreign Institutional Investors (RQFIIs). The total investment will be 200 billion yuan and the bilateral local-currency swap lines between them amounted to 650 billion yuan. RMB cross-border trade settlement helps both avoiding exchange rate risk, reducing the exchange costs in enterprise settlements.
