TESCO CHARITY WALK SUPPORTS JOHOR'S UNDER-SERVED SCHOOLS

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 15 (Bernama) -- Come April 13, Tesco Malaysia has urged for participation in its annual fundraising ‘Walk for Kids’ event scheduled at Tesco Mutiara Rini in Skudai, Johor.

According to a statement, the event is part of the Tesco–PINTAR Foundation School adoption programme.

This year, the charity walkathon is aimed at supporting nine under-served schools in Johor. It is a community walk involving 3km and 5km scenic routes, respectively, within the compound of the hypermarket and vicinity of the park, Hutan Bandar Mutiara Rini.

Tesco is aiming to raise more than RM400,000 in funds from participation fees, cash donations and contributions in-kind from its business partners and suppliers. All contributions will be channelled to support the hypermarket’s adopted schools.

The targetted schools are SK Taman Puteri Wangsa; SK Taman Universiti 2; SK Taman Molek; SK Tanjung Puteri; SK Taman Rinting 1; SK Taman Pelangi; SK Seri Pandan; SK Kota Masai; and, SJKT Ladang Kulai Besar.

“Our ‘Walk for Kids’ events held in Kuala Lumpur and Ipoh in the last two years received great response with more than 7,000 participants. Together, we’ve been able to raise over RM800,000 to help the schools make improvements to their facilities,” said Tesco Malaysia Corporate Services Director, Azliza Azmel.

Registration is open for two categories for all ages with RM50 fee for the 5km Run and RM30 for the 3km Fun Walk. Each participant will receive an ULTRON branded t-shirt and a goodie bag.

To register, participants can drop by at any of the nine Tesco stores in Johor: Tesco Desa Tebrau, Tesco Extra Mutiara Rini, Tesco Extra Plentong, Tesco KSL City, Tesco Kulai, Tesco Seri Alam, Tesco Bukit Indah, Tesco Parit Raja and Tesco Eco Tropics before Feb 28 or visit www.racexasia.com.
