LEO PHARMA ANNOUNCES FDA APPROVAL OF ADBRY™(TRALOKINUMAB) AS THE FIRST AND ONLY TREATMENT SPECIFICALLY TARGETING IL-13 FOR ADULTS WITH MODERATE-TO-SEVERE ATOPIC DERMATITIS

  • Adbry is the first biologic launched by LEO Pharma in the United States and is expected to be available in pharmacies by February 2022.

  • Tralokinumab is marketed outside of the U.S. under the tradename Adtralza® and is currently approved in the European Union, Great Britain, Canada and the United Arab Emirates.

BALLERUP, Denmark, Dec 29 (Bernama-BUSINESS WIRE) -- LEO Pharma A/S, a global leader in medical dermatology, announced today that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved Adbry (tralokinumab) for the treatment of moderate-to-severe atopic dermatitis in adults 18 years or older whose disease is not adequately controlled with topical prescription therapies or when those therapies are not advisable. Adbry can be used with or without topical corticosteroids.¹ Adbry is the first and only FDA approved biologic that specifically binds to and inhibits the IL-13 cytokine, a key driver of atopic dermatitis signs and symptoms.¹,²,³

“Today’s FDA approval of Adbry is a major milestone for LEO Pharma and for the millions of people living with moderate-to-severe atopic dermatitis who struggle to find a suitable treatment option for this chronic and debilitating disease,” said Anders Kronborg, Chief Financial Officer and Acting Chief Executive Officer of LEO Pharma A/S. “As our first biologic in the U.S., Adbry signifies important progress in our mission of advancing the standard of care in medical dermatology.”

The approval of Adbry is based on safety and efficacy results from the ECZTRA 1, 2 and ECZTRA 3 pivotal Phase 3 trials, which included nearly 2,000 adult patients with moderate-to-severe atopic dermatitis.¹ Safety data was evaluated from a pool of five randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trials, including ECZTRA 1, 2 and ECZTRA 3, a dose-finding trial, and a vaccine response trial.¹

“Atopic dermatitis can be severe and unpredictable, which makes it not only challenging for patients to achieve long-term disease control, but also for clinicians to treat, since there are limited treatment options for this burdensome chronic skin disease,” said Jonathan Silverberg, MD, PhD, MPH, Associate Professor of Dermatology at George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences, and tralokinumab clinical trial investigator. “Adbry will be an important addition to our therapeutic armamentarium as a treatment designed to specifically target and neutralize the IL-13 cytokine, thereby, helping patients manage their atopic dermatitis.”

Adbry will be available in a 150 mg/mL prefilled syringe for subcutaneous injection with an initial dose of 600 mg followed by 300 mg every other week. Adbry can be used with or without TCS.¹ A dosage of 300 mg every four weeks may be considered for patients below 100 kg who achieve clear or almost clear skin after 16 weeks of treatment.¹

To help eligible patients have access to Adbry, LEO Pharma will introduce the AdbryTM AdvocateTM Program to support U.S. patients at diagnosis and through treatment with Adbry.

“For people living with atopic dermatitis, the experience goes beyond the skin, often impacting important psychosocial aspects of their life,” said Julie Block, President and CEO of the National Eczema Association. “It’s exciting to see a new, targeted therapeutic option for adult patients living with moderate-to-severe atopic dermatitis. Therapeutic advances like this provide much needed hope for those who may have spent years struggling to find a suitable therapy to alleviate the burden of this disease.”

The FDA approval marks the fifth global regulatory approval for tralokinumab in 2021. Tralokinumab is marketed outside of the U.S. under the tradename Adtralza® and is currently approved in the European Union, Great Britain, Canada and the United Arab Emirates.

WWF-MALAYSIA RELEASES ITS THIRD FAITH-BASED ANIMATION SERIES ON CHRISTMAS DAY

PETALING JAYA, Selangor, Dec 24 (Bernama) -- In the effort to combine religion with environmental education in our country, the World Wide Fund for Nature Malaysia is releasing thirteen short animation series inspired by the teachings and values of Christianity on its official YouTube channel (WWFMy).

'When We're Friends (WWF) with Nature animation series explores the adventures of Moses, his friends, and communities in understanding the works of nature and their role to protect it. The characters discuss pressing environmental issues such as landslides, endangered species, global warming, human-wildlife conflict, and many more.

"Just like the previous faith-based animation series, to connect the conservation messages with religious values, we worked with experts to build the content. The series uses catchy songs and colourful animation to reach the younger generation, the future stewards of the planet. We want to educate them and show how religion promotes caring for the earth," said Sophia Lim, WWF-Malaysia Executive Director/CEO.

She added, "We hope this effort contributes to the scarcity of resource materials that connect religion and the environment. The animation series can also be a teaching and learning aid in the classroom or Sunday school. ADAGENE ACHIEVES KEY MILESTONE IN COLLABORATION WITH EXELIXIS FOR SAFEBODY® NOVEL MASKED ANTIBODY-DRUG CONJUGATE CANDIDATES

- Successful nomination of lead SAFEbody candidates triggers milestone payment -

SAN DIEGO and SUZHOU, China, Dec 23 (Bernama-GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Adagene Inc. (“Adagene”) (Nasdaq: ADAG), a biopharmaceutical company committed to transforming the discovery and development of novel antibody-based immunotherapies, today announced achievement of a key milestone in its ongoing collaboration with Exelixis for development of novel masked antibody-drug conjugate (ADC) candidates leveraging Adagene’s proprietary SAFEbody precision masking technology. Under the terms of a collaboration and licensing agreement established in early 2021, Adagene will receive a $3 million milestone payment for successful nomination of lead SAFEbody candidates for one of its collaboration programs.

“We are extremely proud of successfully providing lead SAFEbody candidates to Exelixis following the start of our collaboration earlier this year. Exelixis’ selection of these lead candidates further validates our proprietary SAFEbody technology and highlights the prowess of our overall DPL platform,” said Peter Luo, Ph.D., Co-founder, Chief Executive Officer, and Chairman of Adagene. “Our SAFEbody masking technology is receiving clinical validation in our ongoing clinical trial from our anti-CTLA-4 monoclonal antibody program, and also marks a potential paradigm shift in the way a highly potent modality such as ADCs can be designed and developed, ultimately helping to improve the lives of patients suffering from cancer and other debilitating diseases.”

Under the terms of the agreement, Adagene received an upfront payment of $11 million and Exelixis can nominate two targets for development of SAFEbody candidates during the collaboration. Adagene is eligible for development and commercialization milestones, as well as royalties on net sales of products developed around each of these targets.

SAFEbody technology is designed to overcome safety and tolerability challenges associated with many antibody therapeutics by using precision masking technology to shield the binding domain of the biologic therapy. This allows for improved tumor-specific targeting of antibodies, while minimizing on-target off-tumor toxicity in healthy tissues, a longstanding challenge with many antibody therapeutics.

In addition to ongoing collaborations, Adagene also applies its SAFEbody technology to develop candidates for its wholly-owned deep, broad and differentiated pipeline. These include ADG126, an anti-CTLA-4 SAFEbody in phase 1 dose escalation as monotherapy, as well as five highly differentiated programs in IND-enabling studies such as ADG153, an anti-CD47 SAFEbody using the potent IgG1 isotype, and ADG152, anti-CD20xCD3 bispecific POWERbody™ T-cell engager. A total of five antibodies are in clinical development by Adagene and its partners, leveraging the company’s AI-driven antibody discovery and development platform.

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 21 (Bernama) -- In the aftermath of the most devastating flood disaster in Malaysian history, Nitesh Malani, Chairman of Yayasan Usahawan Malaysia and founder of the SME and Entrepreneurs Business Awards (SEBA), urges the government to provide a moratorium on bank loan repayment for SMEs to ease the burden of these businesses in their recovery period.

After a lengthy period of business shutdown and financial constraints due to the COVID-19 pandemic, businesses are beginning to recover, only to be struck by another tragedy. The flood has impacted an estimated of up to 18,000 SMEs and entrepreneurs, with the majority reporting significant damage to cars, machinery, and inventories, many of which cost millions of ringgit.

Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) has established the Disaster Relief Facility 2022 with a total of RM 200 million fund allocation to help alleviate the financial burden of MSMEs affected by the flood and assist them in resuming business operations. In addition to the funds provided by Bank Negara Malaysia, I urge the government to go a step further and propose an interest-free loan repayment moratorium for affected SMEs. The government must develop a strategic planning team to address and alleviate the suffering of SMEs during these difficult times. Only with this precise strategic team in place will they be able to plan the next strategy for aiding these SMEs and entrepreneurs.

More needs to be done to assist MSME and prompt action  my key agencies and private financial institutions needs to be executed. BLUE CALIFORNIA EXPANDS NATURAL FLAVOR AND FRAGRANCE PORTFOLIO WITH PRODUCTION OF CLEAN, NATURAL, AND SUSTAINABLE NEROLIDOL

Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif., Dec 15 (Bernama-GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Blue California announced the expansion of its natural flavor and fragrance portfolio of captive ingredients by producing a clean, sustainable nerolidol.

Nerolidol is a rare sesquiterpene alcohol ubiquitous in nature and found in many flowers and plants, particularly in Seville orange flower, also known as Neroli, which gives the aroma chemical its name.

It is recognized for its floral, woody aroma and can also be described as a fresh scent, blending well with citrus, apple, or rose but light enough to complement any type of scent or flavor. Nerolidol is therefore ideal for use in many applications and known for its relaxing effects.

Many brands looking to make products at a large scale using nerolidol find it to be cost-prohibitive and, for that reason, it hasn't been widely used in modern-day product applications.

This is the second analyst acknowledgement for CrowdStrike in APAC in quick succession after being recognised by Gartner Inc as a ‘Customers’ Choice’ in the 2021 Gartner Peer Insights™ ‘Voice of the Customer’: Endpoint Protection Platforms (EPP) report.

“This recognition is testament to the focus and vision CrowdStrike has in the Asia Pacific region which is a key pillar in the company’s overall growth strategy,” said chief technology officer for Asia Pacific and Japan at CrowdStrike, Fabio Fratucello.

As the world’s most tested next-gen endpoint protection solution, these prestigious recognitions mark yet another third-party validation to the power of CrowdStrike Falcon – the only truly cloud-native, single-agent endpoint security platform on the market.

The CrowdStrike Falcon platform was built as a transformative cloud-native solution to establish a new standard in security. For organisations worldwide, CrowdStrike secures the most critical areas of enterprise risk – endpoints and cloud workloads, identity, and data.

Its unique approach starts with its single, intelligent lightweight agent that enables frictionless deployment of the platform at scale. Falcon is the only technology that enables customers to rapidly adopt technology across any workload running on multiple endpoints.

Frost & Sullivan called out CrowdStrike for continually improving its platform with enhancements, applications, and capabilities; and for maintaining a focus to stop breaches and keep customers secure with a solution for the future of endpoint security.

According to a statement, the ‘Company of the Year Award’ is a top honour recognising the market participant that exemplifies vision, innovation, market-leading performance, and unmatched customer care.

Frost & Sullivan analysts independently evaluate companies based on a range of criteria including leadership focus, best practices implementation, financial performance, price/performance value, customer experience and addressing unmet needs.

POSITIVE OUTLOOK FROM GERMAN INDUSTRY FOR MALAYSIA TOWARDS ECONOMIC RECOVERY

Malaysia Remains as a Preferred Business Destination to German Companies

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 14 (Bernama) -- Despite the economic downturn because of the pandemic, German companies are still very optimistic when it comes to doing business in Malaysia, according to the latest AHK World Business Outlook Fall 2021 survey results.

Almost 90% of the respondents are doing well or better in 2021 as compared to the previous year and 63% of them have expressed confidence in securing new business within the next year. With the Malaysian government’s National Recovery Plan, German companies in Malaysia are hopeful to recover from the damaging effects of COVID-19 in terms of finances and manpower.

Daniel Bernbeck, Chief Executive Officer at Malaysian-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MGCC) said, “The Movement Control Orders (MCO) were hard on everyone but German companies are known to be resilient and highly adaptive.”

He added, “Malaysia is unique as compared to other ASEAN countries because of its strategic geographical location, investor-friendly policies, and the good availability of English speaking and skilled technical workers. All these factors, with the help of our friends in MIDA and MITI, allowed German companies to tough it out and make sure that Malaysia remains appealing to new investors.”

Among the major concerns of German companies in Malaysia, ‘economic policy conditions’ by the government is at the top of the list with 71.9% of the respondents considers it as a key interest. This is no doubt due to the fact that initiatives such as the MCO adversely affected the economy by forcing factories to stop production.

Increasing prices of raw materials ranked the second highest with 59% of the respondents highlighting this issue. High prices would hinder companies from being able to purchase the required volume of raw materials to be used in production and it inevitably leads to more issues in meeting customer’s demands. This ties up with the fact that ‘market demand’ is the third biggest concern with 57.9% of the respondents saying it affects them.

"I KNOW YOU'RE SOMEWHERE SO FAR" SOLO ART EXHIBITION BY MULAIKA NORDIN OFFICIALLY LAUNCHED

Mulaika Nordin, young abstract artist, 17, poses in front of her artwork titled “Anonymous”.
.

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 13 (Bernama) -- Art exhibition “I Know You’re Somewhere So Far” comprising of 63 works of art completed in four years by one of Malaysia’s leading young abstract artists, Mulaika Nordin, was officially launched by Nori Abdullah Badawi at KEN Gallery in Taman Tun Dr Ismail.

In her second solo exhibition, Mulaika explores concepts of disconnect and isolation from the lens of an empathic teenage artist as she navigated a constantly changing environment culminating in the period of the global COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 and 2021. The young artist, who turns 18 in the middle of the show, paid homage to her teenage years as she enters adulthood and begins to venture into the real world.

Despite the show's overarching dark themes, it acts as an ode and a closure to Mulaika's childhood, creating an optimistic nod towards the experiences from this chapter of her life.

Nori Abdullah Badawi said, “I hope everyone takes something away from the show; give yourselves permission to feel. Maybe ask yourself what would these situations look like for you if you could paint? What is ‘Semangat’ to you? What about darkness in this pandemic? Take the time to feel – after all it is all of Mulaika’s feelings that have brought all of this to life. Now it’s your turn.”

“There has always been a sensitivity about her – a remarkable ability to see and feel more. Now that she’s bigger and the world is slowly having a better understanding of those who aren’t typical, we know she’s an empath. I believe that this fact, all these things that hit Mulaika – too much at times – causing waves and explosions, to quote Mulaika herself, have surely made her the artist that she is today,” stated Nori, when speaking at the launch.

A striking component of this exhibition is how Mulaika depicts the light and dark side of human nature and modern-day society. The works provide an insight into not only the young artists’ thoughts on the matter at hand but is the output of the collective consciousness that rings true on a societal level.

Mulaika said, “I Know You’re Somewhere So Far is a mirror. I made these works as a way to express myself but also as an observation of the world around me.”

There has been a dramatic increase of the prevalence of mental health and psychosocial problems globally since the COVID-19 pandemic started, due to many reasons including lockdowns causing physical disconnect and isolation, on top of the emotional strains caused by financial and economic problems.

AXA LAUNCHES E-CLAIM FOR FAST CLAIM SUBMISSION & TRACKING

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 13 (Bernama) --
As part of its continuous effort to enhance its services and better serve customers, AXA Affin General Insurance (AXA) has launched AXA e-Claim for its car policies to provide an easier, faster and more convenient way for customers to submit their car claim online.

Instead of relying on the manual way of submitting physical forms, or referring to intermediaries and contact centre, customers can now submit their car claim easily via AXA Website (www.axa.com.my/claims) or WhatsApp WA AAGI Claims.

The launch of AXA e-claim comes from a culmination of feedback from customers through AXA’s Customer Satisfaction survey. According to Emmanuel Nivet, CEO of AXA, the findings have provided AXA with valuable insights and opportunities to improve its customer journey. The adoption of digitalisation has given rise to the need for faster turnaround time as customers prefer to be informed of their claim status and payout in a timely manner. These improvement areas are especially important to AXA, as an insurer who places customers at the heart of its strategy.

“Claim experience is a critical moment of truth where we will be put to test, as customers look to us as their trusted partner to deliver our promise and ease their worries in times of difficulties. We hope that this newly launched initiative will provide our customers with a quicker, hassle-free and transparent end-to-end experience in their claim journey,” Emmanuel said.

For car claim submission via WhatsApp, customers only need to take pictures and videos of the information requested and send them to +603 2170 8282. The supporting documents needed for customers have been streamlined, while the entire journey is self-service and guided to make the submission process easier and faster for customers.

This will also reduce pending claims due to inadequate document submission since customers are now informed on the requirements before they submit their claim. Most importantly, customers are engaged and informed throughout the submission process as AXA will notify them via WhatsApp to update on the status.

Customers can also track their claim status online anytime, anywhere via AXA Track Easy on AXA website. The simplified process has now improved AXA’s front and back-end processes, allowing AXA to expedite its claim processing and payment process. With this, AXA is able to provide claim decision and cash for approved claims within 1 business day for minor damage.
