SILTERRA UNVEILS NEW TECHNOLOGY FOR AUTOMOTIVE APPLICATION ICS

CYBERJAYA, Aug 27 (Bernama) -- SilTerra Malaysia Sdn Bhd has unveiled a new technology for automotive application integrated circuits (“ICs”) or chips used in vehicles.

SilTerra’s 180nm Bipolar-CMOS-DMOS (“BCD”) automotive grade process technology is qualified to meet the AEC-Q100 Grade Zero standard, which is the automotive industry standard that specifies the recommended new product and major change qualification requirements and procedures.

BCD is one of key building blocks of SilTerra’s Smart Power Technology platform developed to deliver optimum energy efficient products based on proven mature process technology, intellectual property (“IP”) and design kits. CMOS refers to Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor while DMOS refers to Double Diffused Metal Oxide Semiconductor.

“We are excited for SilTerra to introduce the automotive grade 180nm BCD process to the automotive IC market. Every product that SilTerra offers and technology we use is born from our commitment to meet increasing market demands and exceed customers’ expectations. We believe we can offer a significant added value to the automotive application ICs sector,” said Tan Sri Syed Zainal Abidin Syed Mohamed Tahir, Group Managing Director of Dagang NeXchange Berhad (“DNeX”), and also Executive Chairman of SilTerra.

SilTerra is a strategic investment of DNeX, and Beijing Integrated Circuit Advanced Manufacturing and High-End Equity Investment Fund Center (Limited Partnership) (“CGP Fund”)

“The new shareholders of SilTerra will continue efforts to transform SilTerra into a world-class leader in the global semiconductor market in terms of operational excellence and technology advancement. We are also upping the ante with our strategies such as cost optimisation, product mix expansion as well as production capacity enhancement,” he said.

SilTerra’s 180nm BCD AEC-Q100 Grade Zero automotive grade process is now entering mass production phase, and this is the second important milestone since the achievement of IATF 16949:2016 Automotive Certification in 2018 as the company makes strong progress entering the automotive IC market.

SilTerra’s automotive grade 180nm BCD process is able to perform at 60V of operation. It has been qualified with a specially tuned golden path process flow for high-yield output. The process is supported by silicon-characterised Foundry PDK and third party IP such as ARM based-Standard Cell Library, SRAM Compiler and eMemory One-Time-Programming IP. These IPs are characterised and validated at temperature ranging from -40oC to 150oC according to the AEC-Q100 Grade Zero industry quality standard.

According to IC Insights Inc, the global automotive IC demand in the BCD/analogue segment is expected to grow at a 15 per cent compound annual growth rate from US$9.14 billion or 15.4 billion ICs in 2020 to US$18.1 billion or 33.2 billion ICs in 2025.

Conventional hybrid vehicles contain an average of US$650 value of semiconductor content while full electric vehicles with ADAS level-4 features can contain up to US$1,550 value of semiconductor content. One of the key automotive IC applications is power management IC for management of power supplies, motor driver for automatic head lamp, motor controller for power chassis and power doors, LED drivers for automotive lighting, power switches for batteries and other power applications.

SEAFOOD LEGACY CO., LTD. ANNOUNCES TOKYO SUSTAINABLE SEAFOOD SUMMIT 2021 REGISTRATION OPENS

Build Blue Economy Toward 2030: Changing Japanese Seafood Industry by DX and ESG Investment

TOKYO, Aug 27 (Bernama-BUSINESS WIRE) -- The Tokyo Sustainable Seafood Summit 2021 (TSSS2021) will be held from 11th to 13th October, Monday to Wednesday, 2021. The event is hosted by Seafood Legacy Co., Ltd. (hereinafter "Seafood Legacy '') and Nikkei ESG and co-sponsored by Walton Family FoundationDavid and Lucile Packard Foundation.

This press release features multimedia. View the full release here: https://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20210826005032/en/

The theme of this year's summit is "Build Blue Economy Toward 2030: Changing Japanese Seafood Industry by DX and ESG Investment." With its eyes set on the blue economy and the achievement of the SDGs by their 2030 deadline, the summit will focus on DX (Digital Transformation) and ESG investment aimed at accelerating the move towards sustainability in the Japanese seafood industry.

The Tokyo Sustainable Seafood Symposium, the predecessor to this year's Tokyo Sustainable Seafood Summit, has been held yearly since 2015 and has grown into one of Asia's largest and leading events in the sustainable seafood movement, with its participation growing each year. Last year, there were 108 speakers and 3,800 attendees (online viewership).

With the growing global interest in sustainability, and as symbolized by the idea of the "blue economy," there is a growing movement towards sustainability in the seafood industry and other ocean-based economies.

In particular, a revision to Japan's Fisheries Act came into effect in December 2020, with a law enacted to adjust and improve distribution (Domestic Trade of Specific Marine Animals and Plants Act). The policy has made major strides towards improving sustainability. Along with these changes, there are also signs that digital transformation will help promote sustainability in the seafood industry. Financial institutions have also launched initiatives that leverage ESG investment to improve industry sustainability.

The name for the event was changed from "symposium" to "summit" to better reflect the aim of realizing a more practical movement. The goal is to make the summit an event where, in addition to focusing on DX and ESG investment, we can join with speakers and participants to discuss how, in the ten years to the 2030 SDGs deadline, we can best build the blue economy.

In addition to sharing the latest information as was done in previous events, this year's event will use online functionality to provide a place where those earnestly seeking to promote sustainability in the seafood industry can interact with one another.

For three days, the summit will allow experts, both domestic and foreign, to join with other related persons to discuss the Japanese seafood industry, with the goal of passing on abundant oceans and a sustainable economy to the generations that follow. We would appreciate your sharing this information via your respective mediums.

TRANSPARENT AND INCLUSIVE RULEMAKING AMONG TOP PRIORITIES IN REGULATORY REFORM

PETALING JAYA, Aug 27 (Bernama) -- Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC) heightens the continuous commitment for transparency and inclusivity in Malaysia’s rulemaking and regulatory enforcement. MPC’s efforts aim to strengthen Malaysia’s regulatory environment towards a more systematic, accountable, and effective policymaking process and policy implementation to boost productivity and Malaysia’s global competitiveness. MPC’s initiatives in this area enhances business environment and efficiency and will impact the industry players directly.

Dato’ Abdul Latif Haji Abu Seman, MPC Director General said, “MPC has been playing a more active role in regulatory reform and rulemaking ecosystem in Malaysia. Currently, a few initiatives are on-going to intensify the main elements in quality regulations and policies – transparency, inclusivity, and predictability”.

“Last year, MPC received the mandate from the Special Cabinet Committee on Anti-Corruption (JKKMAR) chaired by the Prime Minister to facilitate the process in ensuring the ministries and government agencies responsible for issuing licenses and permits publish guidelines online for public information. MPC is cooperating with the National Centre for Governance, Integrity and Anti-Corruption (GIACC), federal and state governments, as well as the local authorities in executing the mandate”.

“The initiative is under the strategies in the National Anti-Corruption Plan (NACP) to improve public service delivery by increasing transparency in the process of issuing licenses and permits. We have completed the review exercise at the federal government level amounting to 570 types of licences and permits, and this year MPC is in the process of facilitating and monitoring the project’s implementation based on the recommendations from the reviews. At the same time, we are reviewing the licenses and permits issued by the state and local governments, due to be completed this year”.

“The focus is clear – transparent, accountable, and productive public service delivery. This eases dealings between the business community and government officials”.

MPC also urges the relevant stakeholders, from the government to the private sector, the general public, non-governmental organisations and special interest groups to fully utilise the Unified Public Consultation (UPC) portal to be part of policymaking and amendments of regulations. MPC is strengthening the awareness effort for all parties to use the portal to ensure inclusive policymaking process. The business community either local or international players in Malaysia can voice their regulatory concerns at   https://upc.mpc.gov.my.

“PEMUDAH is another effective platform for the industry players to channel regulatory issues and challenges especially on the unnecessary regulatory burdens which impact the ease of doing business. Until now, MPC and PEMUDAH have been diligent in addressing issues from the industry, and several success stories exemplified the effectiveness of PEMUDAH”.

“The key is inclusivity, that relevant parties from both the public and private sectors sit at the same table to deliberate the challenges faced by the industry and make the conscious effort to form collective decisions”. Dato’ Latif added.

The recently launched National Policy on Good Regulatory Practice (NPGRP) is expected to reinforce accountability in Malaysia regulatory environment. MPC as the lead agency for Good Regulatory Practice (GRP) approach in Malaysia set to future proof Malaysia’s regulations.

One of the improvements in GRP is Digital Regulatory Notification (DRN) which was launched on 7 May 2021. DRN is a step in Regulatory Impact Analysis (RIA), a process which analyses the impact and alternative solutions for new regulations and amendments of regulations. Implementation of DRN reduces the time taken for submission and feedback by 99% as regulators now only need 7 minutes to complete the process. As DRN is internet-enabled, it involves very short turnaround time and MPC can access the Regulatory Notification (RN) in real-time. According to Dato’ Latif, as of mid-July 2021, MPC has received 190 submissions of DRN from 17 ministries.

PETALING JAYA, Aug 25 (Bernama) -- Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Mohd Zuki Ali, Chief Secretary to the Government of Malaysia, recently launched the National Policy on Good Regulatory Practice (NPGRP), an affirmative action in national regulatory reform agenda. Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC) is mandated to drive the implementation on NPGRP towards boosting national productivity and at the same time strengthening public service delivery.

NPGRP presents a holistic and inclusive guide to development and amendment of regulations encompassing involvement of all relevant parties, from legislators and regulators to the general public. PETALING JAYA, Aug 24 (Bernama) -- Tourism Productivity Nexus (TPN) with full support from Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC) kickstarts tourism recovery efforts to boost the industry’s productivity through its signature online tourism programme, Malaysia Virtual Experience (MyVXp).

The effort aligns with MPC’s direction in maximising technology to accelerate productivity growth. Dato’ Abdul Latif Haji Abu Seman, MPC Director General said, “During the prolonged uncertain period we are now, one element remains constant in boosting productivity is through technology. We have to leverage what remains constant during this difficult period. If we don’t, productivity might stay at the lowest level and the economy might not recover well as expected.”

This year, TPN, supported by MPC, has extended the MyVXp programme to students in the higher learning institutions in collaboration with HELP University.

Uzaidi Udanis, TPN Champion said, “We are more than happy to see some of the hosts who attended our programme last year have ventured on their own to showcase their products online. This year we go a bit further to facilitate the ready hosts to market and promote their showcases, and we go a bit further too to extend the programme to a new target group, the students. Currently, TPN is developing microlearning videos on MyVXp module to affect more people.”

“I call for the general public to support our tourism industry players and Malaysia’s tourism industry itself. The industry is still dying and will take a long time to recover. Without the support, the industry will die, and the once Malaysia Truly Asia that we know will be just a part of the history lesson.”

Malaysia Virtual Experience (MyVXp) programme by TPN started in 2020 in responding to the impact of the pandemic. To date, TPN has mentored nearly 1000 hosts with skills to showcase live online experiences featuring tourism attractions and products, gastronomy, cultural and traditional products, and destinations.

Among the most interesting showcases are History Walk Around George Town by Tiger Tatt, Travelog Malaysia by Mimi Salleh, Reminiscing Malaysian Jazz by Azim Sulaiman, Little Ghost Lane (Kwai Chai Hong) by Bernice Leong, Langkawi Living the Dream by Ganny Del Rahim, The Little Farmer by Muhammad, The Friendly Samanea Saman by Anis Sabhee, and The Malaysian Culture by Lisa.

SEGI ADDRESSES GLOBAL CHALLENGES IN APCCSID 2021

PETALING JAYA, Aug 18 (Bernama) -- SEGi University is partnering with the International Bureau of Education (IBE-UNESCO), Universiti Malaya (UM), Asia Pacific Research Association on Curriculum Studies (APRACSI), and Association of Professional in Curriculum and Educational Instruction (APROCEI) to host the Asia Pacific Conference on Curriculum Studies and Instructional Designing (APCCSID) next October 2021, in their effort to empower learners across all socio-economic backgrounds with the knowledge, skills, values, and attitudes to address the 21st century interconnected global challenges.

With the theme Curriculum and Instructional Design for Sustainable Development, APCCSID 2021 aims at discussing the roles and impact of education towards achieving UNESCO Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), counting inclusive education, values education, education for Sustainable Consumption and Production (ESCP), and global citizenship among many other as the critical enabler of all the other SDGs.

The International Conference will provide opportunities for collaboration of knowledge and experience across regions among academic scholars, policymakers, and practitioners in international settings while providing a platform for discussion and possible cooperation on curriculum studies and instructional designing at both lower and higher levels of educational institutions in Malaysia and regionally.

By bringing 25 keynote speakers and plenary speakers, and 12 forum panellists from across continents home in Malaysia, SEGi hopes to provide a rare opportunity for more Malaysians to raise their awareness in sustainability thinking as global citizens. SEGi hopes to be leading the way in ensuring education towards sustainable development pertinent to the survival of humanity.

“While sustainable thinking concerns the mindset of consistently maintaining and improving our well-being as a society, it also reveals that we do not inherit the world from our ancestors but borrow it from the next generation. Similarly, Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) is a realisation that the current curriculum is not only for the current generation but also for the future generation,” said Datin Dr Ng Soo Boon, the Organising Chairperson of APCCSID 2021.

For the curriculum to be implemented well, teacher training is essential, and ongoing research is necessary. SEGi University Faculty of Education, Languages and Psychology can spearhead the Malaysian and regional education fraternity towards education for sustainable development through the teacher education programme both at undergraduate and postgraduate level.

As the world begins to address the unprecedented crises and disasters following the ‘Code Red for Humanity’ as reported by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), SEGi University as the main organiser of APCCSID 2021, believes that curriculum will set the direction for educational transformation worldwide and at all levels of education to integrate one that is more sustainable for generations to come, through environmental realisation. A continuous synergy and concerted effort of APCCSID will be needed to smaller the gap between theory and practice.

In raising awareness among global citizens on the importance of sustainability thinking, APCSSID 2021 will help develop and implement a mission-driven curriculum. It emphasises the identification and adherence to sound and sustainable philosophy and principles in learning that could lead to students’ thinking and problem-solving skills in general.

PARTNERSHIP BETWEEN CENTURY SOFTWARE AND JITTERBIT IS GOOD NEWS FOR MALAYSIAN GOVERNMENT

PETALING JAYA, Aug 17 (Bernama) -- Century Software (M) Sdn Bhd (“Century Software”), a wholly owned subsidiary of Censof Holdings Berhad and Jitterbit, an application programming interface (“API”) transformation company, strengthened their partnership with the pledge to continue advancing their joint technology to enable Malaysian government agencies and businesses to accelerate their digital transformation journey.

Century Software has been providing financial management and business solutions to over eighty government agencies and businesses for several years, using Jitterbit’s API technology for integration or middleware. Century Software and Jitterbit’s partnership has come a long way, through which Century Software was appointed as a Managed Service Provider partner, as well as the preferred re-seller for Jitterbit’s products and solutions. Century Software has successfully placed itself as one of the leading players in Malaysia’s digital/information technology industry specializing in government resource planning solutions.

An API enables interaction between data, applications and devices. It delivers data and facilitates connectivity between devices and programmes. API also allows applications to communicate with backend systems.

“Our technologies continue to advance, and so do our integrated solutions. These integrated solutions have greatly benefitted our clients as many of our clients have systems they would like to integrate,” said Dr Zainul Ariffin Harun, the chief executive officer of Century Software.

Dr Zainul added, “Conventionally, system integrations were done by scripting text files or via other manual ways. With Jitterbit, we are able to integrate our clients’ systems in a faster and more effective manner. We are now offering these integrated solutions to our clients as a package in which API will be in real time. Most of our clients, namely the government agencies are committed to use it.”

Marco Meisert, the director of Channel and Alliances for Asia Pacific of Jitterbit said, “The Malaysian government agencies have a strong requirement for Century Software’s solutions, which need to be tightly integrated with other core applications. Jitterbit’s easy-to-use integration platform allows these agencies to gain real time access to data and make informed decisions. Typically, government agencies are smaller in size and have a significant number of applications and back-end systems that need to be integrated with. Government agencies are also very particular about pricing as they have limited budgets available, which pose as a potential challenge to Century Software. Jitterbit’s flexible pricing model, as such, is able to address these pricing challenges.”

STUDENTQR CONNECTS EDUCATORS WITH STUDENTS AND PARENTS FOR CONSTRUCTIVE CLASSROOM COMMUNITY

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 17 (Bernama) --
StudentQR mobile app is set to transform the education landscape by connecting teachers with students and their parents for stronger engagement.

Developed by MyFuturity Global Sdn Bhd, the app was created for behavior assessment and attendance system for students using quick response (QR) code. With only a smartphone, it allows educators to award merit or points based on student's positive behaviour at school using unique QR codes assigned on each student IDs.

Recognized by Ministry of Education, the award winning digital tool was ultimately aimed to improve several areas including to instill positive reinforcements on pupils thus creating stress-free environment for educators, students and parents. It is also to relieve much of teachers’ workload of having to key-in several layers of manual assessment reports of pupils for their guardians.

The pandemic has given a lesson that the education system, particularly the K-12 category, can no longer depend on examinations alone. Moreover, the abolishment of Primary 1 assessment, UPSR and PT3 examinations, makes continuous evaluation using qualitative descriptors more relevant than ever. This is the best example of the need for newer form of assessment and approach that is more appropriate with time and the future.

Besides Malaysia, the app which took 12 months to be developed, is currently being subscribed by 2,650 schools from six countries including Indonesia, Philippines, India and Qatar, and has benefited around 195,000 students from pre-school, primary and secondary level. At present, government schools enjoy complimentary subscription while a small fee is applied to private institutions.

According to Founder cum Creator of StudentQR, Syed Huzaifah Syed Omar, each school determines its own merits and scores. Points that can be given to students include ideal behaviours such as being courteous to teachers and staff, punctual to school, active participation in gotong royong, timely homework submission, good leadership skills and many more.

“By using StudentQR, teachers are able to automatically take students’ attendance even when they are offline, eliminating the need to transfer this records from paper to computer. Using the same app, parents are able to directly monitor their child’s progress in school as well as keeping their behaviour in check,” he added.

Positive feedback from stakeholders has inspired MyFuturity team to keep improving the app algorithm and reporting. School Principals reported improvements in not only students’ academic performance but also their pupils’ perspectives towards learning upon knowing good deeds and affirmative behaviors are recognized and valued by the school community. What makes it more meaningful is when parents acknowledge these merit points and commended their children at home, prompting stimulation of the child’s personality and discipline transformation.

MyFuturity was a SUPERB grant recipient and rendered access to Technology Park Malaysia’s (TPM) inclusive coaching, mentoring, training and consultancy services. With guidance and support by TPM, StudentQR app was shortlisted for Malaysia Commercialisation Year Award in 2020, under the Emerging Entrepreneur category. Adopting best practices of developed countries’ education system, the app makes a valid supplementary tool in advocating digital adoption within Malaysia’s education community.

Technology Park Malaysia, an agency of Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, has an integrated infrastructure, facilities and support services to assist technopreneurs and entrepreneurs who are keen to commercialize their ideas in the three industry clusters, namely, ICT, Engineering and Biotechnology.
