PETRONAS PARTNERS WITH CERAWEEK BY S&P GLOBAL FOR ENERGY ASIA 2023

KUALA LUMPUR, March 10 (Bernama) -- Taking the lead to address energy transition and accelerate collaborations in net zero solutions for Southeast Asia, PETRONAS is partnering with premier energy conference CERAWeek by S&P Global to co-create Energy Asia 2023 in Kuala Lumpur.

To be held from 26 to 28 June next year, Energy Asia 2023 will bring together global industry leaders, investors and policy makers to move beyond pledges and solve the challenges of energy transition to achieve a just and responsible net zero future for Asia.

In the conference’s lead-up, PETRONAS, together with CERAWeek by S&P Global as its knowledge partner will host multi-stakeholder dialogues with key regional and global leaders to engage on how their countries can secure more energy with lower emissions. A special dialogue on “Southeast Asia’s Net Zero Pathways: More Energy, Less Emissions” to map out the pathway for the region towards net zero will be announced soon.

Key topics that will be covered at the dialogues include decarbonisation policies, current and future scenarios for the energy mix, meeting energy needs for growth, decarbonising technologies, required policies, financing as well as capital needs in achieving climate goals. The outcome of these dialogues will culminate at Energy Asia 2023.

PETRONAS President and Group CEO Datuk Tengku Muhammad Taufik said, “Achieving a just and responsible energy transition is an agenda that requires a rapid and coordinated collaboration from all stakeholders to progress our shared ambition for a lower-carbon future. In this regard, PETRONAS is very pleased to partner with S&P Global to launch Energy Asia 2023 as a strategic platform to advance solutions and develop clear targets and policies that will optimally balance energy equity, security and sustainability for the region. As a responsible energy player, PETRONAS is committed to do our part in moving the needle towards the goal of net zero carbon emissions.

“CERAWeek is pleased to be a knowledge partner for Asia Energy 2023,” said Daniel Yergin, Vice Chairman, S&P Global. “This will be a significant thought leadership event at a critical time for Asia’s energy future and we much value the opportunity to work with PETRONAS on realizing the goals of the conference.”

Earlier during CERAWeek 2022 in Houston, Texas, Datuk Tengku Taufik was in conversation with Yergin together with prominent energy leaders in a panel session here titled “Energy Transition: Smooth or Turbulent?” where they engaged in a dialogue on a sustainable energy future.
