KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 6 (Bernama) -- Established in 1988, Tianjin Binhai High-tech Industrial Development Area (Tianjin High-tech Area) was approved by the State Council as one of the first national high-tech industrial development areas in 1991 and was nodded to set up a national independent innovation demonstration zone in 2014.
Currently, a high-end industrial system called "113X" has been formed, with the new generation information technology industry as the leading sector, and supported by the new economy services, biopharmaceuticals, new energy, and high-end equipment manufacturing sectors.
Tianjin High-tech Area has maintained its leading position in Tianjin in terms of key technological innovation indicators, according to a statement.
Leveraging the advantages of being a national independent innovation demonstration zone, a free trade zone and the synergy between the two, the area has become a region with abundant innovation resources, the highest number of independent intellectual property rights, and the greatest potential for economic growth.
Efforts are currently underway to turn the area into an upgraded version of national independent innovation demonstration zone and establish a first-class science and technology (sci-tech) innovation city in northern China.
Tianjin High-tech Area has gathered a group of strategic emerging industries to develop three core chains, namely basic hardware, system software, and new generation information technology and services, as well as information security and all-field applications.
Meanwhile, Tianjin High-tech Area has also gathered the sub-industry chains of marine equipment, rail transit sub-industry chain, and new energy vehicles and intelligent manufacturing sub-industry chain.
Tianjin High-tech Area has a forward-looking layout for future industries, including quantum communication, third-generation semiconductors, and digital twins.
