KUALA LUMPUR, April 28 (Bernama) -- The implementation of the LEAN
development system to boost national productivity and innovation has seen
savings of RM8.7 million by 21 public and private organisations, Malaysia
Productivity Corporation (MPC) director-general Datuk Mohd Razali Hussain said.
He said the MPC managed to gather 24 projects from 21 public and
private bodies that demonstrated a positive impact in terms of effective
process and time saving, as well as products that failed to meet
specifications.
"Indirectly, through this method, an organisation can help
reduce waste and manpower and will be able to achieve the goal of obtaining
maximum results in the future," he said in a statement here today.
The programme is a collaborative efforts among the MPC, the
Ministry of International Trade and Industry and the Malaysian Timber Industry
Board through the Vendor Development Programme.
It is aimed at helping organisations reduce waste and maximise
customer value, hence improving the quality of work.
LEAN refers to a collection of principles and methods that focuses
on identifying and eliminating non-value added activities through continuous
improvement of products for the benefit of customers and in the pursuit of
perfection.
It strives to speed up customer service, manage operations
effectively and reduce operating costs to a minimum.
