KUALA LUMPUR,
Jan 30 (Bernama) – The public is invited to participate in the Big
Open Wrangle (BOW), an online open data competition which began on
Oct 5, 2017 and will end on April 4, this year.
The competition is organised by
Asia Online Publishing Group (AOPG) and supported by the Malaysian
Administrative Modernisation and Management Planning Unit (MAMPU).
Vibrant use of open data is
seen as one of the ways for nations to become truly
data-driven and take advantage of the global
digital economy.
MAMPU deputy director-general
(ICT), Dr Suhazimah Dzazali said the competition was aimed at drawing
beneflts from open data to spur growth of the digital economy.
“Our intention is to promote the open
data portal, www.data.gov.my to
the people. We want to get them involved by using the open data available in
their own apps and projects or to get their ideas on how we can make the
open data we have even better.
“Globally, we have seen open data used
to give remote communities better and cheaper access to medicine and
healthcare, reduce traffic congestion and help with public security.
“We want to harness the creativity of
our own local data experts and challenge them to use the open data we have
today in new and innovative ways,” she said in a statement, today.
To participate in the competition, just
sign up for the Big Open Wrangle at http://bigcommunity.net/events/big-openwrangle/
