KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 16 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Financial Planning Council (MFPC) organised the second instalment of the Malaysian Financial Planning Day (MFPD) at Securities Commission Malaysia. A total of 1,600 attendees comprising of students from institutes of higher learning and members of the public attended the event. MFPD is an annual event jointly organised by Malaysia’s financial planning associations – Malaysian Financial Planning Council, Financial Planning Association of Malaysia (FPAM), Association of Financial Advisors Malaysia (AFA) and Malaysia Financial Planner and Advisor Association (MFPAA).
MFPD provides an excellent opportunity to learn more about the financial planning industry, including its job possibilities, through interactive learning and networking sessions. The event is fully funded by the Capital Market Development Fund (CMDF) and was officiated by Puan Meha Kasbun, Director, Office of the Director, Corporate Resources & Services, Securities Commission Malaysia. With a focus on “Financial Learning for Youth”, seven seasoned speakers covered sessions including what potential financial planners need to know about the profession; what opportunities it offers; how to navigate a financial planning career from college to the corporate world; and how Artificial Intelligence (AI) is revolutionising the profession. A Round table discussion on the nuts and bolts of a financial planning career helped financial planning aspirants decide whether this is a suitable profession for them.
The programme a one-to-one career guidance session that will serve as a guide for youths to pursue a career as a financial planner. The event also aims to increase the participants' financial literacy. Along with emphasis on financial literacy, MFPC is committed to elevating the financial planning industry and increasing the number of trained financial planning professionals in the country. MFPC signature programme, RFP and Shariah RFP certifications, which have been certified by Bank Negara, are widely recognized as industry benchmarks and are required for the Financial Adviser's Licence and Financial Adviser's Representative Licence. The SC also recognizes them as required qualifications for the Capital Markets Services Representative's Licence (CMRSL).

MFPC received recognition with the UNESCO Wen Hui Award for Educational Innovation, MFPC's financial literacy programme, My Money and Me has been recognized both locally and internationally since 2004.
