KUALA LUMPUR, April 30 (Bernama) -- Kurnia Insurans (Kurnia), a leading brand in general insurance, recently launched a series of coordinated CSR Road Safety Programme, ‘Program Adiwira Topi Keledar’ carrying the theme ‘Hero yang Selamat adalah Hero yang Hebat!’ last month at Kuala Lumpur, Kota Bharu and Johor Bahru, respectively. The programme was kick-started with a helmet colouring contest where students from the participating schools were given the opportunity to express their creativity in designing their own helmets. The contest received a remarkable participation of over 20,000 students from all 30 schools.
The 30 winning designs will be adapted to produce special edition helmets distributed to the deserving pillion riders of these schools.
“Taking in consideration that these drawings were from primary school students, it was not shortlisted based on artistic composition but more on the message that the student wants to relay and the visual impact on the road,” said Grace Quah, Chief Distribution & Underwriting Officer of AmGeneral Insurance Berhad.
These custom designed helmets are targeted to be out on the road by July 2019 during the road safety roadshow at the schools.
According to Malaysia Institute of Road Safety Research, only 15% pillion riders wear proper helmets while riding on a motorcycle therefore putting children at high risk when travelling to and from school. Committed to the vision of ‘Helping to Make Malaysia a Safer Place’, this CSR programme is positioned to contribute measurable impact to this pertinent issue. Piloting the programme to provide child pillion riders with child-size helmet, Kurnia aims to catalyse the behavioral change needed to promote positive road safety habit to children from a young age.
“This pilot programme was launched to provide insights toward the feasibility of a nationwide roll out. Upon receiving encouraging reception from our partners as well as incredible support from the Ministry, District Education Offices, teachers and parents, a phase two roll out is imminent,” said Derek Roberts, Chief Executive Officer of AmGeneral Insurance Berhad.
“Our partners have indicated positive interest to participate in this programme, therefore we will be coordinating a joint effort together with other corporate companies to reach out to more schools and even more students. Ultimately, we would like to provide a programme where Malaysians would be able to contribute in making this country a safer place on the road for Malaysians of all age,” he added.

RENTOKIL PARTNERS WITH MOH AND AIB TO ELEVATE FOOD SAFETY STANDARD IN MALAYSIA
KUALA LUMPUR, April 30 (Bernama) -- As food contamination and hygiene issues are increasing, it is crucial to raise food safety and hygiene standards by fostering partnerships between regulatory bodies, and industry leaders. Rentokil Initial Malaysia, a global leader in pest control and hygiene, advocates for a closer working relationship with our customers and recently invited them to attend the Pest and Total Hygiene (PATH) workshop with the theme “Strengthening Our Partnership With You”.
In 2019 alone, viral news on poor food safety and pest control were shared on social media, highlighting unhygienic practices are rampant in Malaysia. As stated by the 2019 Global Food Safety Conference, robust food safety culture must extend to every employee, with industry and regulator partnership being the best way to mitigate food safety issues efficiently.
The PATH also worked to connect current industry leaders with prominent regulatory bodies such as the Ministry of Health (MOH) and global food safety audit body, AIB International to share on food safety culture and how it positively impacts businesses. AIB stressed that simple food safety programmes are not enough to establish proper food safety culture, rather it is important for all levels in the organisation to advocate for and act as an example for proper sanitation and hand hygiene practices. AIB also highlighted the positive impacts that food safety culture brings to businesses such as increasing morale, productivity and revenue. MOH further reiterated the importance of food safety while sharing an extensive list of best practices in regards to food safety and highlighting how crucial a trusted pest and hygiene management partner is in achieving standards in food safety.
Carol Lam, the Managing Director of RI Malaysia said “At Rentokil Initial, we are always committed to understand your needs and challenges. Through this deep understanding, we can then provide the right and innovative solution that solves your pest & hygiene issues. Our commitment is to continue the dialogue based on partnership and food safety, with the aspiration of connecting them with environmental sustainability, from food integrity to reducing plastic waste.”
PATH workshop was attended by more than 160 participants from over 80 companies, highlighted on how companies need to form close working relationships and share responsibilities with their pest control providers for effective pest management. The main theme centers around how partnering with regulators and adhering to best practices, such as removing food sources to minimise pest attractions coupled with the help of pest control experts, companies can reduce the risk of infestations.

BAMBOO WEAVING FROM MEISHAN, ANOTHER HIGHLIGHT ON THE INTERNATIONAL HORTICULTURAL EXHIBITION ON APRIL 29 IN BEIJING
BEIJING, Apr. 29, 2019 /Xinhua-AsiaNet/--
The International Horticultural Exhibition, hosted by the Chinese government, will be held on April 29 in Beijing, which marks the highest-level and largest international expo in China this year. The exhibition will last till October 7.
According to the organizer, the exhibition not only offers tourists a feast of wonderful horticulture and gardens, but also embodies China's ideal of sharing development achievements with the world and pursuing a green lifestyle. INBAR Garden, making its debut on the exhibition, is the epitome of this ideal.
The highlight of the garden lies in exploiting elements of Meishan to the full. Meishan, a city in Sichuan Province of China, 60 kilometers away from the provincial capital Chengdu, is home to Su Dongpo, China's prestigious literary giant. And it is hailed as "Home of Chinese Bamboo Weaving Art" and "International Capital of Bamboo Weaving".
In the exhibition, with the theme of "Live Green, Live Better", Meishan joins hands with the International Bamboo and Rattan Organisation (INBAR) to carry out a range of public events and activities to lively demonstrate the unique and vital role of bamboo and rattan in improving our living environment and quality of life.
Among over 3,000 bamboo and rattan products from the world exhibited in the INBAR Garden, such as bamboo lanterns, bamboo weaving paintings, bamboo-over-porcelain wares and bamboo paper, more than 70% of them come from Meishan.
Judy Zhu, Director of Strategic Partner Division, INBAR, said that Meishan is chosen as a partner because it takes the initiative to show a new and positive attitude towards opening up, and to move towards the international arena through the bamboo industry.
Meishan, as a key region of bamboo resources in China, abounds with bamboo. Bamboo here boasts long tubes, sparse joints, and flexible and tough texture, thus suitable for making bamboo weaving products. As early as 2008, a cooperation started between Qingshen's bamboo-weaving, the most represented among Meishan bamboo weaving arts, and Hermes, a French luxury brand. Top-class porcelain-bodied bamboo wares are provided for Hermes and the cooperation has lasted ever since. Qingshen's bamboo-weaving, together with silk and Sichuan embroidery, is called "Three Treasures of Middle of Sichuan". It is a protected product listed by China Geographical Indications. It covers more than 3,000 product systems of 25 kinds, such as plane bamboo weaving, dimensional bamboo weaving and porcelain-bodied bamboo wares. Such weaving products are exported to over 50 countries and regions in Europe, the United States, Korea and Japan.
Bamboo weaving demonstrates only the single fact that people in Meishan master bamboo weaving techniques well. A kind of household paper made of bamboo fibers and the first brand of natural household paper, BABO, in China have also been creatively developed by people in Meishan. Products of BABO have passed the food-grade testing of FDA empowered by the United States and AP empowered by the European Union. According to the latest data, the production capacity of Meishan's "bamboo paper" has exceeded 200,000 tons, and such products have occupied over 20% of China's domestic market.
In addition to bamboo weaving and bamboo paper, people in Meishan have also brought other values of bamboo into full play. In Hongya County, Meishan, after finished with processes covering repeated compacting and drying, bamboo can be transformed into high-performance material, bamboo steel, which has the same strength as fiberglass reinforced plastics. Bamboo steel can be used not only for building structure, but also for decking, interior doors and windows, and other filed, with service life lasting for up to 50 years. The gate of the INBAR Garden for this session of International Horticultural Exhibition and the "Fruits Garden" are all built with Meishan bamboo steel.
As a traditional competitive industry in Meishan, Meishan bamboo industry has developed three major brands, namely, "bamboo weaving, bamboo paper and bamboo steel". In 2018, the total output value of bamboo industry in Meishan reached RMB 6 billion.
"I would rather eat without meat than live in a place without bamboo", composed by Su Dongpo, a prestigious literary giant in China. All his life, Su wrote about, ate foods related to and painted bamboo. With bamboo as his companion, Su can be said as the person of ancient and modern times showing the maximum preference for bamboo. Nowadays, Meishan, a famous historical and cultural city in southwestern China, is attracting worldwide attention with bamboo, the bridge connecting the world.

INFINEON AND E2OPEN AWARDED BEST TECHNOLOGY COLLABORATION AT THE ANNUAL SINGAPORE INTERNATIONAL CHAMBER OF COMMERCE AWARDS GALA DINNER
Global Production Network project will help Infineon achieve its digital transformation strategy and better serve customers in fast-moving markets
SINGAPORE, April 25 (Bernama-BUSINESS WIRE) -- Infineon Technologies AG and E2open received the prestigious Singapore International Chamber of Commerce (SICC) Award in the category of Best Technological Collaboration. The award was presented at the 2019 SICC Awards Ceremony and Gala Dinner, held on April 3, 2019, by guest of honor and Singapore’s Minister for Trade and Industry Chan Chun Sing.
This press release features multimedia. View the full release here:https://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20190424005206/en/
The collaborative Infineon and E2open project, entitled “Global Production Network,” established a platform based on E2open’s Manufacturing Visibility technology for Infineon to achieve global visibility over its manufacturing related supply chains, involving both internal and external manufacturing.
“The anticipated impact of the manufacturing visibility with E2open is significant,” said Dr. Mathias Duemmler, senior director of factory integration at Infineon. “In addition to the benefits realized so far, this project has contributed to progress with our process automation roadmap. This esteemed award honors the partnership between E2open and Infineon and will certainly boost our successful digital transformation journey.”
With the Global Production Network project, E2open and Infineon connected former siloed manufacturing and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems within its widespread network of internal and external factories and created a holistic view of production, quality control and material allocation across the supply chain.
Automating the exchange of data between disparate systems will improve productivity by eliminating the manual and labor-intensive processes of consolidating spreadsheets and allowing users to focus only on exceptions that require attention.
Streamlined quality processes will increase profitability, generating higher yields and reducing scrap costs by identifying defects or non-conformances earlier in the production cycle. The E2open solution enables availability of accurate real-time data to many other Infineon business processes and systems.

TOSHIBA LAUNCHES THREE-PHASE BRUSHLESS MOTOR CONTROLLER ICS WITH SINE WAVE DRIVE
― Realizes high efficiency in a wide range of rotations without phase adjustment ―
TOKYO, April 25 (Bernama-BUSINESS WIRE) -- Toshiba Electronic Devices & Storage Corporation ("Toshiba") today released two three-phase brushless motor controller ICs “TC78B041FNG” housed in an SSOP30 package and “TC78B042FTG” in a VQFN32 package. Both adopt InPAC[1], Toshiba’s original automatic phase adjustment function, to eliminate phase adjustment and achieve high level efficiency at a wide range of motor rotation speeds. This allows their use with motor drivers of various voltages and current capacities, and they also can be used in combination with intelligent power devices at the output stages. The controllers are suited for use in home appliances such as air-conditioners and air purifiers, and industrial equipment. Mass production starts today.

Manufacturers of home appliances and industrial equipment are increasingly using inverters to control fan motors, to meet strong demand for improved energy efficiency and lower noise. Conventionally, in order to obtain high-level efficiency, it is necessary to adjust the phase of the motor voltage and motor current for individual fan motors.
Realizing high efficiency over a wide range of rotational speeds—from almost zero rotations per minute (rpm) at start-up to high speeds of several 1,000rpm—requires many parts for phase adjustment. It also introduces the need for an MCU control system, and developing that takes time.
With the introduction of InPAC, Toshiba’s original new control technology, which automatically adjusts the phase of the Hall signal and motor current, the new products drive motors with an efficiency equivalent to that of an MCU control system, over a wide range of rotation speeds. InPAC secures both a high efficiency fan motor drive and sine wave drive that reduces noise.
In addition, since phase adjustment is performed automatically with simple settings, the previously required development time for software and MCU adjustment is eliminated, streamlining application.
Main Features
(1) InPAC
Secures high-level efficiency for a wide range of rotation speeds without any need for phase adjustment.
Simple phase adjustment of the Hall signal and output current realizes high efficiency driving.
(2) Low noise and low vibration
Use of a sine wave drive system with a smooth current waveform reduces noise, and generates less noise and vibration than motors with a rectangular wave drive system.
(3) Small package
TC78B042FTG adopts a VQFN32 (5mm x 5mm x 1mm) package that can be mounted in limited spaces. The popular SSOP30 package is also available as TC78B041FNG.
Applications
Home appliances such as air-conditioners and air purifiers, and industrial equipment.

popIn Action: product recommendation service via image recognition technology
KUALA LUMPUR, April 19 (Bernama) -- popIn Inc, an intelligence enhancement services provider recently launched an image recommendation service, popIn Action in 10 countries and regions.
The service is available in Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau, Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Brunei and India.
popIn Action utilises image recognition technology to search an e-commerce website and display similar products from the same website.
It is a service that helps e-commerce users to find the goods they seek by installing a recommendation tool which displays similar products to the item which the user is browsing, or an image being uploaded.
popIn Action is able to show similar goods by assigning colour, shape or material and it can be installed on e-commerce websites easily, without customer purchase history data.
Installing popIn Action, along with a collaborative filtering system recommendation tool that uses customer purchase history, expands purchase options for customers, which can increase purchase intention and lead to actual purchase.
After a special popIn Action tag issued by popIn is installed, popIn creates a custom design and recommendations start displaying.
popIn Action charges after a customer clicks on a recommended image and adds it into their shopping cart. Because the cost of the service is linked to revenue, e-commerce retailers can minimise the risk of installation.
