Digital Media: Radia, an integrated development managed by Sime Darby Sunrise Development Sdn Bhd played host to 50 entrepreneurs at its first-ever ‘Radia Entrepreneurs Bazaar’. At the Bazaar, Sime Darby Sunrise Development Sdn Bhd in collaboration with Yayasan Hijrah Selangor, provided a platform for budding entrepreneurs to showcase their products to Bukit Jelutong residents and the surrounding community. At the event, Yayasan Hijrah Selangor presented a mock cheque of RM 991,000 which signified its contribution to local entrepreneurs via a microcredit scheme.
KUALA LUMPUR, April 15 (Bernama) -- Radia, the RM1.6 billion integrated development by Sime Darby Sunrise Sdn Bhd located at the heart of Bukit Jelutong in Shah Alam, hosted its first-ever Radia Entrepreneurs’ Bazaar. The Bazaar, which was co-organised by Yayasan Hijrah Selangor, an integrated microcredit body under the purview of the Chief Minister of Selangor, was held on 13 April 2019 from 10 am to 5 pm. This fun-filled and exciting entrepreneur bazaar was graced by Haniza Talha, member of the Selangor State Legislative Assembly for Lembah Jaya and State EXCO for Housing and Urban Living and Mohd Najwan Halimi, member of the Selangor State Legislative Assembly for Kota Anggerik.
Dato’ Wan Hashimi Albakri Wan Ahmad Amin Jaffri, Chief Operating Officer (Township Development) of Sime Darby Property said, “The partnership with Yayasan Hijrah Selangor opens opportunities for local entrepreneurs to promote their products and expertise. Meanwhile, Hijrah Salangor a microcredit programme, was incorporated by the former Chief Minister of Selangor, Dato’ Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali’s with an inspiration to combine with other microcredit schemes such as SKIMSEL, MIMBAR and WALA was implemented in 2010. This programme was officially launched by Dato’ Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali on 24 March 2015. It is an Action Research Project (Projek Penyelidikan Tindakan) with the objective to expand the middle class in the state of Selangor.
Hanizah Talha said, “Hijrah Selangor, which has 22 branches is tasked with establishing a simple and fast capital withdrawal system for hawkers and small traders who are often found to have capital shortage and lack the opportunity to obtain additional capital due to various factors. Besides providing funds, entrepreneurs under the foundation are also provided with training.” Among the programme include the ‘Zero to Hero’ programme for those who are interested to start a business with a mentor and mentee concept.
At the event Hijrah Selangor presented a mock cheque of RM991,000 signifying the amount that had recently been given to provide financial assistance to 106 local entrepreneurs in the form of a microcredit scheme.
The event was a successful platform to draw communities together, with various activities being held for individuals and families. More than 50 booths including food trucks and various entrepreneurs selling everything from food, clothing lines and spa items were in full force at the venue. Among the other activities organised included fun kids’ activities by Supa Dupa, massage therapy and reflexology and lucky draw sessions.

Radia is a RM1.6 billion integrated development built by two giant property developers in Malaysia; Sime Darby Property and UEM Sunrise Berhad with the former leveraging on Sunrise’s experience in high-rise commercial developments such as Solaris Mont’ Kiara and Solaris Dutamas as well as Sunrise’s significant database of local and international customers. It is connected via major highways such as Federal Highway, NKVE, ELITE and Guthrie.
