A MAGIC SMILE FOR KPJ PUTERI'S YOUNG INPATIENT FIRST MERLIN'S MAGIC WAND MOBILE ENTERTAINMENT UNIT IN SOUTH EAST ASIA


JOHOR, Nov 27 (Bernama) -- Paediatric patients at KPJ Puteri Specialist Hospital (KPJ Puteri) will enjoy their stay in the hospital, as a result of the hospital’s partnership LEGOLAND® Malaysia Resort.

Through the collaboration, hospitalised pediatric patients will be entertained by Merlin’s Magic Wand Mobile Entertainment Unit, the first ever such unit in South East Asia.

The Mobile Entertainment Unit to be placed at KPJ Puteri’s Paediatric Ward, is specially designed to entertain children who are too ill to leave their hospital bed or ward. The unit makes fun accessible and interactive through playing on the X Box, being creative with LEGO and DUPLO with family or friends. It will make a massive difference to KPJ Puteri Specialist Hospital which provides 24-hour care, 365 days a year, and sees around 170, 000 patients aged between newborn to 90+ years old every year.

The handover ceremony between the LEGOLAND® Malaysia Resort and KPJ Puteri were witnessed by Yang Berhormat Liow Cai Tung, Johor Committee Chairman for Tourism, Women, Family, and Community Development, and President and Chief Executive Johor Corporation, and Chairman of KPJ Healthcare Berhad, Yang Berhormat Dato’ Kamaruzzaman Abu Kassim. Also present was Yang Berbahagia Dato’ Amiruddin Abdul Satar, President and Managing Director of KPJ Healthcare Berhad.

Executive Director of KPJ Puteri, Tuan Haji Khairun Ahmad expressed the hospital’s delight in being selected as the first in the SEA region to provide such an experience to its young patients.

He added, “This opportunity to work with LEGOLAND® Malaysia Resort is very much aligned with hospital vision to be leading healthcare provider as Paediatric Centre.  Together with LEGOLAND® Malaysia Resort, KPJ Puteri will continuously undertake such Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) projects throughout the entire 2020 for inpatient and outpatient kids and underprivileged children”.

CS Lim, Finance Director of LEGOLAND® Malaysia Resort explained that the Merlin's Magic Wand is a children's charity that supports children facing challenges of serious illness, disability or adversity around the world.

“We want to bring joy and excitement to the young patients at KPJ Puteri Specialist Hospital through our LEGO-style activities that are fun yet educational, backed by our LEGO® DNA of building creativity through play. This collaboration is a testament to LEGOLAND Malaysia Resort’s commitment to giving back to the community around us.

The Charity makes FUN accessible to children with  "Magical Days Out" - providing tickets to families to enjoy their day at a Merlin Entertainments’ attraction; "Merlin’s Magic On Tour" - working with our local communities at hospitals and hospices to bring the magic to the children wherever they are”.

KPJ Puteri Specialist Hospital (KPJ Puteri) has been in operations since 1 June 1986.  KPJ Puteri is a member of the KPJ Healthcare Berhad network of hospitals, which is the private healthcare provide in Malaysia.
