TPM Engineering secures project from Kobe Precision Technology

KUALA LUMPUR, June 11 (Bernama) -- TPM Engineering Sdn Bhd (TPME), the engineering arm of Technology Park Malaysia Corporation Sdn Bhd (TPM), has been awarded a systems integration enhancement project by hard disk manufacturer, Kobe Precision Technology Sdn Bhd (KPTec), recently.

The project will involve the re-engineering of KPTec´s computer numerical control (CNC) machines by upgrading their capabilities and additional quality measurement features.

TPM´s president and chief executive officer, Datuk Ir Mohd Azman Shahidin said the project was secured following the successful evaluation of TPME´s engineering capabilities based on the quality control and benchmark set by KPTec.

"TPME´s expertise and skills in undertaking the project will contribute to substantial cost savings for KPTec apart from extending the life span of its existing machines against the procurement of similar new machines, " he said in a statement today.

Meanwhile, general manager of TPME, Dr Mohd Zaihirain Mohd Rasin said that it was critical for industries to remain competitive and maintain their sustainability.

"In our efforts to provide the necessary assistance to relevant stakeholders, TPM has an established Centre for Robotics and Flexible Manufacturing System to encourage and heighten the development of indigenous technology, " said Mohd Zaihirain.

KPTec, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Japan´s Kobe Steel Ltd, is currently the world´s largest independent supplier of aluminium ground substrate, a component of hard disk drives.
