KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 24 (Bernama) – NanoTextile Sdn Bhd and the
Malaysian Textile and Apparel Centre (Matac) signed a memorandum
of understanding (MoU) today to gear up the development, advancement and
commercialisation of nanotechnology in Malaysia’s textile industry.
The ceremony
was held in conjunction with the Technical Textiles and Smart Apparel
National Seminar 2018 in Swiss Garden Hotel, Melaka.
NanoTextile chief
executive officer, Dr Thomas Ong Poh Shing, said: “Nanotechnology makes
possible the collaboration between NanoTextile with upstream and
downstream textile players, without disrupting the supply chain.
“We believe
this partnership will increase the competitive value of
Malaysia’s textile industry through greater deployment of
technical textile products locally and internationally, strengthening
the entire textile ecosystem.”
Matac president, Regina
Leong, said: “Matac is working very closely with the government, industry
players, universities and technology partners to provide solutions to key
challenges faced by the textile/apparel industry in Malaysia, particularly
in the areas of automation and product development.
“Matac is
currently undertaking projects to drive the textile/apparel industry in
Malaysia towards Industry 4.0 and the development of
technical textile/smart apparels in Malaysia.”
