KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 24 (Bernama) – NanoTextile Sdn Bhd and the Malaysian Textile and Apparel Centre (Matac) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) today to gear up the development, advancement and commercialisation of nanotechnology in Malaysia’s textile industry.
The ceremony was held in conjunction with the Technical Textiles and Smart Apparel National Seminar 2018 in Swiss Garden Hotel, Melaka.

NanoTextile chief executive officer, Dr Thomas Ong Poh Shing, said: “Nanotechnology makes possible the collaboration between NanoTextile with upstream and downstream textile players, without disrupting the supply chain.

“We believe this partnership will increase the competitive value of Malaysia’s textile industry through greater deployment of technical textile products locally and internationally, strengthening the entire textile ecosystem.”

Matac president, Regina Leong, said: “Matac is working very closely with the government, industry players, universities and technology partners to provide solutions to key challenges faced by the textile/apparel industry in Malaysia, particularly in the areas of automation and product development.
