NGC Energy lends support to Food Bank Malaysia

PUTRAJAYA, July 4 (Bernama) -- The Food Bank Malaysia Foundation was given a boost when another corporate body, NGC Energy Sdn Bhd presented a donation of RM30,000 to ensure the success of its programme.

NGC Energy chief executive officer Julianna Kamaruddin said as a responsible corporate citizen, the company could not resist the call by the Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry (KPDNHEP) to help reduce the people’s cost of living.

"It is hoped that with this contribution towards the Food Bank programme it will ease the burden of the community, especially those in the low-income group and students at higher education institutions," she said during NGC Energy Aidilfitri celebration here today.

Julianna presented the cheque to KPDNHEP deputy secretary-general Datuk Badrul Hisham Mohd.

Also present were Selangor Menteri Besar Incorporated chief executive officer Raja Shahreen Raja Othman and Food Bank Malaysia chief executive officer. Ab Wahab Long.

Meanwhile in his speech, Ab Wahab encouraged more private companies to participate in making the Food Bank Malaysia initiative a success, adding that the programme has been extended to 11 public universities through the Students Food Bank programme.

"The Food Bank Malaysia Foundation is a non-profit organisation, as such, assist us in helping the people especially the B40 group, to alleviate their burden," he said.
