Malaysia is one of the four countries that have been nominated by the PATA secretariat to host the virtual event along with Thailand, Nepal and Macao. Each country will have its own segment for a week to showcase its tourism products and destinations, and will be spearheaded by the respective National Tourism Organisations (NTOs).
Tourism Malaysia has scheduled a fascinating line up of activities to bring the ultimate virtual Malaysian experience. Malaysia will be featured on the second week from 29 June until 3 July 2020. The programme schedule covers six components namely the Forum, Digital Showroom Platform, Live Experience of a cooking demonstration on Malaysian cuisine, Live Storytelling on Underwater Freedive Experience and Dark Tourism in Malaysia, Promotional Videos and Games & Giveaways.
A number of 50 industry players, comprising 26 product owners, 10 hotels and 14 travel agents from states across Malaysia will participate in this programme where they will showcase their products and services during the Digital Showroom session. Viewers can anticipate great deals such as the 2D1N educational package for Sabah Tea Adventure, Fireflies Excursion at Sunset and Brunch & Brew offer which allows tourists a hands-on experience to savour local flavours. During the Digital Showroom session, Tourism Malaysia will feature brochures on Malaysia’s best: Culinary Delights, National Marine Parks, Dive in Paradise, Exotic Ethnic Heritage and Malaysia Travel Guide among others. The packages on offer range from five main tourism niches which are Adventure, Diving, Food Trail, Heritage as well as Islands & Beaches.
“As part of Tourism Malaysia’s initiative to gain ‘quick wins’ in our recovery efforts for the tourism industry, we are honoured to be given the opportunity to put the spotlight on Malaysia in this timely virtual collaboration with PATA,” commented Datuk Musa Yusof, the Director General of Tourism Malaysia, who will be participating in the programme.
