MQA Shares Expertise With International Quality Assurance Bodies

KUALA LUMPUR, March 6 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) is ready to carry out the programme involving the placement and exchange of officers of various quality assurance agencies from foreign countries.

MQA in a statement today said they were always open to international quality assurance bodies from other countries to come over to Malaysia to share expertise and to increase collaboration in ensuring quality higher education.

"This programme provides an opportunity for MQA to enhance its international visibility through the sharing of quality assurance practices among quality assurance bodies at the regional and international levels," it said.

Towards making the programme a success, MQA welcomed a number of officers from five foreign countries to undergo training from Feb 26 to March 2 pertaining to quality higher education.

They are from the National Accreditation Agency for Higher Education, Indonesia; Samoa Qualifications Authority; Tertiary Education Commission of Mauritius; National Institution for Academic Degrees and Quality Enhancement of Higher Education of Japan and the Tonga National Qualifications and Accreditation Board.

The statement said MQA also welcomed four officers from the Higher Education Evaluation and Accreditation Council (HEEACT) of Taiwan for an exchange programme from Feb 26 to 28.

It said the participants were given a briefing on MQA's quality assurance practices and the opportunity to be observers for MQA's accreditation assessment visit.

According to the statement, MQA is expecting more participants from other countries in October and further information can be obtained from www2.mqa.gov.my/MQATC.
