KUALA LUMPUR, March 21 (Bernama) -- The Merdeka Award Trust has opened applications for the 2019 Merdeka Award Grant for International Attachment until May 1.
The grant aims to identify and recognise outstanding young Malaysians whose work demonstrates a commitment to excellence, and support their journey to become young leaders who are driven to make a positive difference to Malaysia and the lives of Malaysians.
It is awarded each year to qualified Malaysians between the ages of 22 and 35, to engage in short-term (up to three months) collaborative programmes at globally-renowned host institutions and organisations.
The grant covers a range of disciplines such as education, visual and performing arts, sports, heritage, community and social work, economics, finance, environment, health, science and technology.
Grant applicants need to go through a three-step selection by the Merdeka Award Secretariat, Selection Committee from founding partners (PETRONAS, ExxonMobil, Shell) and also by the Merdeka Award Board of Trustees.
Since its introduction in 2012, a total of 14 young Malaysians have successfully received the grant, with 11 of them having completed their attachments at an international institution of their choice.
