KUALA LUMPUR, May 24 (Bernama) - Some 150 people including Tahfiz students, the homeless and underprivileged were given a buka puasa treat by Bank Muamalat Malaysia Berhad at Masjid Jamek Sultan Abd Samad here yesterday.
The students were residents from Maahad Tahfiz Al-Bayan in Shah Alam and Maahad Tahfiz Jailani in Kampung Baru while the homeless people were from areas near the mosque.
The students were each given a school bag and duit raya (cash gifts), while raya cakes and cash were handed out to the rest.
Bank Muamalat chief executive officer Datuk Redza Shah Abdul Wahid, his deputy Khairul Kamaruddin and mosque committee member Syed Abdullah Syed Nordin presented the items and cash gifts.
The bank also handed over a cash donation of RM3,000 to the mosque.
Redza Shah said the bank had been providing such aid since 2011, adding that it was part of its ongoing corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme.
