Entegris invests US$30 mln for manufacturing facility in Kulim, Kedah


KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 9 (Bernama) -- Entegris Inc has invested US$30 million to expand its state-of-the-art clean manufacturing facility in Kulim, Kedah in Malaysia and increase its manufacturing capacity by 30 per cent. (1US$ = RM4.18)
The specialty chemicals and advanced materials solutions provider said the investment will ensure it is a steadfast partner for the leading semiconductor makers for years to come.
Also presented during the ribbon cutting ceremony were Menteri Besar (Chief Minister) of Kedah, Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir; Kedah State Exco for Industry, Investment, Local Government and Housing, Malaysia, Tan Kok Yew; Entegris President and Chief Executive Officer, Bertrand Loy and Entegris Senior Vice President, Advanced Materials Handling (AMH) Division, Bill Shaner.
According to a company statement, the Fourth Industrial Revolution is having a massive impact on IC manufacturing. New technologies are requiring an enormous number of chips and a greater emphasis on the performance and reliability of these chips.
“To meet this surge, we have expanded our Kulim manufacturing capacity and capabilities, adding new tooling, molding machines and numerous updates to the assembly area to create a superior and unparalleled manufacturing facility,” said Loy.
Meanwhile, Shaner commented that the expansion enables Entegris to support wafer and reticle handling demand on a global basis for leading nodes now and into the future.
